question for Z750 / Z1000 owners

I recently purchased an 05 Z750, and I'm loving the bike, but these stock mirrors are useless whenever it revs over 6500rpm, so did you guys keep your stock ones on, or changed to something after-market?
would bar end mirrors make a difference? if so which ones would you recommend?

Cheers

Im using bar end mirrors. Motrax is decent for the money. When I have some money to burn I will be getting a set of rizomas.

I also had a set of CRG LS mirrors but I sold them before putting it on. Lots of attention to detail, but for that money I would get the rizomas

You may need to carry a hex key for a bit to get it setup and and to tighten the clamp on the ball to keep the mirrors in place. At higher speeds the mirror may start to move.

I'm using bar end mirrors, bought them on ebay.
Something like this:

Works perfect for me - in city, on the highway (currently I'm commuting 80 km one way Mississauga-Kitchener)
If the installation job is done well from the very beginning - no need to carry hex key with you, and no move at highway speed.

Do you guys find the bar end mirrors are better than stock with respect to vibration?

Those are the "motrax" ones, Im sure they all come out of the same factory. Once you put some miles on them they will move at speed.... speeds you see at the drag strip.

on the z1000 i never had any vibration problems w/r/t the mirrors - stock or bar end style. Maybe the vibration is unique to that gen of Z750's.

:) I didn't have problems with vibration.
I had problems with seeing my arms in mirrors, and not traffic behind me.

it is unique to the gen of Z750, once you hit about 6500-8500 rpm its pretty hard to see anything in these mirrors, I heard the same about the gen Z1000's, what year is yours?

2nd gen 08. Which is supposedly fairly different from 1st gen in power delivery.

I have an 06 Z750S, my mirrors vibrate like crazy at 6000 revs. My bike has the same engine as yours but a bikini fairing. I have mirror wideners on and I can see behind OK. I'm going to experiment with stick on lead weights to dampen the vibrations a bit.

Do you guys find the view better with the bar end mirrors? I have been thinking of getting some as the Z's look way better minus the stock mirrors!

As someone else has alluded to in the thread, I like seeing what's behind me, and not my elbows. For that reason I think I have a better view with bar end mirrors. I have to move my head more to look into the bar end mirror vs. stock mirrrors, but generally speaking I can see better with the bar end mirrors.

I ride an 04 z750, one CRG bar end mirror on the left and I love it. Took me a while to get used to it but I'll be using that setup on my next bike too.

my cbr600rr is the same, I can see car shaped blurs, but they vibrate quite a bit.

does it help with the vibration?

Go to the nearest Harley dealer and order a set of Buell Firebolt mirrors. They are a direct bolt on replacement for the Z750s and work much better. They vibrate less and offer much better visibility. And they're pretty cheap.

What about rearward view? The Motrex mirror wideners are pretty good for extending the mirrors outwards. Can you still get Buell aftermarket parts from the dealers?

Cheers for the advice!!!

The firebolt mirrors hang a little lower than the stock ones so they end up being out wider than the stock ones. Though your mirror extensions should still work as well. I definitely can see better with the firebolt mirrors than the stock ones.

You should still be able to get Buell parts from the dealer. Not sure for how much longer, but I suspect it will be for a while yet.
