I have long hair and after riding I find that my hair gets all knotty. After a ride I brush it out it out gently but am afraid of causing too much breakage over time. How do you ladies handle this? Is there a leave in conditioner that you use? Braid? Tie it up? How do you protect your hair?

Sexist! Dudes can have long hair too!
Moroccan Agar Oil.
That or Infusium leave in conditioner.

lol - you are right....so sorry!! Thanks for the tip ;)

Same issue as you.... I do use leave in conditioner as much as I hate it up I've been braiding mine suxxx when I'm going out though...Jenn

i've had that experiece too, helmet hair sucks  its just looks like a giant birdnest...u can try tying a bandana/handkerchief over your hair before putting on the helmet or one of those tam thingys ;)

Not having long hair is great! My mom used to just flip a ponytail under the helmet. Depending on how long it is, doesn't deal with any wind keeping much easier to brush.

MISC:

As a dude that usually has short hair but now has it long enough that it pokes out from the back of my lid...

Feeling the wind in your hair feels niiiiice.

I use a FIBER more then a gel, I like the wet look kinda, Alberto or Crew makes good stuff although the humidity is killing me and having a bad hair day, straight combs do not work with my hair, tried a diffuser to no avail, have an appt booked for a perm next Wed @ Magic cuts, may get some highlights, who knows, i'll wing it, -Ty

I put my hair up in a double pony-tail, almost like a bun. I find that helps. I haven't tried braided, as Amazon suggested, but I'm sure that would help as well.

Buns could squish in your lid and possibly cause damage to your head in an accident. I used to wear bandanas under my lid but found the knot at the back was causing too much pressure at the back of my head. I didn't like the idea of the possibility of going down and having that same knot concentrate the force of impact into the back of my skull.

Maybe this thing will work?

There's also those leather wraps that some people wear around their pony tails to keep it together.

My hair is halfway down my back, so I feel your pain.

I wear a skullcap, and tie it back in a ponytail with two elastics: one on the bottom, and one at the end of the tail. Braiding is also a good idea, but I'm lazy.
