Question about placement of Reflectors

My bike had some ugly reflective tape (the diamond/disco ball kind) all over it when i bought it. I used tips i got from the forum here and got them off (heat gun + goo gone worked perfectly), but the front forks now have discoloration from where the old tape was. Eventually i want to take them off and get everything repolished, but for now i plan to just put brand new reflective stickers over the discolored area on the front forks.

So.. question is what is the proper color i should be using for the front outward facing sides of the forks. Grey or Orange? I recall reading once that there is a law on which color is supposed to be used on the front on motorcycles? could be wrong..

Attaching a pic of where i plan to place them below.

Front outward-facing Amber, rear outward-facing Red, rear rear-facing Red. That is what is called for by CMVSS 108, the federal standard that applies to vehicle lighting.

Thanks Brian. So it looks like there is no place for the grey/whitish reflective tape. I was going to put a small strip of it on the front forks below the amber but i suppose that it's not legal, and may confuse people seeing the bike from the side at night.

Id say adding the silver reflective tape to the front forks won't confuse anyone, and may make you more noticeable on the road. I think you should do it.

I had actually added some silver reflective tape exactly like what you are planning on doing; here's a picture of the reflective tape (back from when it was hibernating over the winter):

Yes that is what i was planning on the front forks. The back end of my bike has pretty good visability so i was thinking since the forks are the farthest forward thing it would be good to have something on them. I'm starting a night shift position soon at my job in missisauga so i want to be as visible as possible riding my bike to work at 11pm.
