I understand that "no condo is safe", but I'm just making this thread to see what kind of responses I can get, in regards to the area of Queens Quay/Bathurst. I may be living in 1 of the many condos on the Queens Key. Thanks guys.

Make sure you have theft insurance coverage, make sure your bike isn't the nicest one in the underground and take reasonable precautions.

I had mine parked at my condo that is in the same area. No problems. The same goes for the majority of the other bikes in the underground.

I do know of one bike that was stolen in the area, but it was a newer model litre bike that was specifically targted. The owner of the stolen bike had the bike chained, covered, etc.

If a thief wants your bike/car they will find a way. I had a member in the family have someone break into their house to steal the keys to the garage so they could steel the big $$$ wheels on his Mercedes.

I'm in that area, that area and the condos in front of the scarborough town centre are the 2 hottest spots for bike theft.

Just make sure you understand how much would you get from your insurance for your bike in case of stolen but first make sure you have insurance at all times.

True that having it chained may not stop them, but they will always go for the easiest one to get, unless they come in prepared to take them all.

In my previous building, in one day they took 4 other ss' and didn't take mine just because it was well chained, even when mine was the newest one out fo all the ones in that building at the time

If I was living in a condo, I won't be buying a nice bike. Just my 2c

Thats what insurance is for.

Sure. But you're still out your deductible. Buy a fancy dancy bike, start payments and pow - it's stolen. Leaving you with whatever your deductible left owing on something you've barely started to ride.

Thieves suck. Too many use the "insurance will pay for it" mantra, but don't realize the people they're stealing from still have the deductible they're losing out on. Nice double dip by the insurance companies.

You will need full coverage on your bike. Period!

It was recently reported in the press that there were 310 bike thefts in the GTA in 2010, mostly from underground condo garages. I assume most of these thefts occured during the riding season.

Has anyone seen any statistics for the 2011 season? I only ask as the TPS busted a bike theft ring and alot (no idea how much though) of the thefts were attributable to them. Just wondering if has decreased - or not.

Just a heads up, my buddy had his '08 gsx-r 750 stolen from the underground parking at 550 queens quay. Granted the bike wasn't chained or even covered it was still pretty unbelievable how quickly they loaded it up into the van.
