Quebec Bans Uncertified E-Bikes From Public Roads

For the e-bikes just make the rider go a Km with the functioning pedals.
The only time I've ever seen someone use those pedals was on the rail trail between Peterborough and Lindsay.

This puke passed us at speed, weaving between us and an oncoming cyclist nearly taking me out.

About 10km outside Peterborough we caught up with him struggling to pedal the now dead POS. Served him right.

I love my Talaria. There's a lot of value in being able to go and see the places that I could never get to on pedal-power alone...

I've ridden through some beautiful spots where, I really only see other people maybe once every 15-20 minutes of riding... despite never leaving the city.

There are a lot of great hiking and single track trails right in 'chrawno that you couldn't get away taking a dirt bike on. I mean, you could, but you'd be kind of a dick....

But this thing is basically totally silent, doesn't make enough power to do any damage to the trail, doesn't burn any gas, and a lot of other excuses I tell myself that make it okay lol

3 million people all around me, but not a soul in sight out here... Does that mean I'm riding next to and on an abandoned train track on private property? Maybe, maybe not... But if that was the case, but no one and nothing was bothered, and it was like I was never there, does it really matter?

Typically I only ride during office hours on weekdays between like 2:30 to 5 pm when I'm not likely to come across any/too many people in the places I go. Usually the mountain bike guys are actually faster than me on the single track so I just to the side and let them pass me so they don't lose their momentum. Damn muscle-legged bastards lol

Seriously though, if we weren't supposed to ride here, why would there be these really cool super sketchy bridges for us to ride on?

(Before anyone asks about weight, the Talaria weighs less than me, and our weight is being split under the two axles, so it's no more than if two guys were walking the bridges / all good!)

If the political will and lea priority to enforce they could just ban their importation and sale.

But the again, just look at all the magic mushroom shops, pit bulls/mixes, and people openly selling switchblades on kijiji - all “controlled”, prohibited items which a few years ago would have been zero tolerance…

How much is insurance on one of those?

You can buy something like this for a similar experience that is 100 legal with no insurance needed . GASGAS G Trail 3.0

The Husky & GasGas pedal assist are heavily discounted at GP Bikes too. They're pedal assist with no throttle but with a range of assist from none to "I'm tired and I just wanna get home." Pretty cool.

There's a place in Uxbridge at the Durham forest where you can rent one for $120 per day to try it out. I'd like to do that.

Too bad they don't list them on the website actually found them similar price to everyone else who has them.

Maybe "similar experience" is subjective...

I did the whole electric fat bike thing a few years ago, even rode it in the winter... It was ok. It was fun. It was fine... It's similar in the way you could call a motorcycle and a Vespa similar, I guess...

To me, the wannabe baby electric dirt bike feels way more comfortable and capable than the wanna be awkward electric fat bike did to me.

I was probably noisier on the thing with pedals because I was smiling less and swearing more lol. Granted knobbier tires on the Talaria may have played a part in that.
