I am contemplating whether to purchase a 2006 GSXR or CBR. I know its all opinion based, but I am about 5'5". So I am looking for a bike that would be manageable. I did have an 02 Yamaha R6, my friend crashed it few days ago and paid me cash for the bike. Back to the point. I am looking for comfort with a good kick to the speed.
Thoughts anyone?

I personally have a 2007 gsxr 600 im 5'7 with a longer upper body than i do legs. I ride it perfectly fine with teh ball of my foot on the ground. I have personally sat on cbr's and a little bit inside me regrets not getting one but it does require a longer inseem to ride more comfortably.

Was gonna say, friends don't let friends drive Suzukis...
But I'd get flamed.

Think the gixxer would sit more comfortable than the 06 CBR....BUT then again you did ride a r6...so get the CBR :)

never rode a gixxer, but I have a 08 cbr600rr...its pretty comfy...longest I have taken it is from toronto to port dover to sarnia in one day.

Sit on both... see if any friends will let you test ride the bikes.... go with whatever you think is the best for you.

Your preferences > GTAM opinion.

Stick with yami r6 03-05 or 06-09r6s. That's my 2 cents

LOL. He's 5'5", his feet will be a foot off the ground on each side on a 06+ R6.

The Gixxer has the lower seat height of the 2 IIRC. I would jump on that.

The RR was the last of a kind so to speak....In 07 Honda released a redesigned bike. As for the Gixxer, I'm not sure. You might want to check the supersport shoot-out for that year and see also if there are any recalls for either bike.

Regardless wat u get u should still lower it. My buddy is prob about the same height or mabe a bit smaller. He has a gixxer 600 first season it was stock next season he lowered and and feels way better for him. More confidence and control of the bike.

I'm exactly 5'5" too, and I ride an 07 600RR comfortably. I get a solid tip-toe down; as much as I got on my 250! Certainly no need to lower it. I sat on a gixxer (but can't remember what year right now) and found the tank really wide, so although the seat height is lower I didn't find it as easy to touch the ground.

Oh, and also, the center of gravity makes the CBR really easy to move around-- I was worried at 5'5 and 110lbs I wouldn't be able to.. but I assume that's the same for all supersports, they've all been tuned for good balance & handling!

lol no need to lower any of them, i'm 5'5 with a short inseam and ride a 09 cbr 1000rr on the street and a 08 GSXR 600 on the track with no issues. You just have to get used to leaning it over to the left side and having your right foot on the rear brake.

It's not like you ride the bike with your feet on the ground. Need to move it in a parking space? Get off the bike and move it. No shame in that. I see this subject come up on dot net all the time.

I'm 5'6" and ride a stock height CBR. Just get the damn CBR already and be happy. Besides, this city has far too many Gixxers as it is. :P
