Protecting/Maintaining your leather gear

Can I get some recommendations on what products are good for maintaining our leather... something that is friendly on perforated leather, I would prefer in cream form. Also where to buy? and how much?

Thanks :-)

John Bickle is the man to ask.

Most street gear will last you at least 5-8 seasons with no care whatsoever, and you will get bored of it before it ever deteriorates... My cheapo AGV Suzuki leather jacket hasn't seen any care except for occasional rainfall, regular dose of bug oil juice, a single scrub-down from a slow-speed low-side 6 yrs ago, and it has many years left in it still (and i'm a picky dresser).

If you are looking to protect a custom 1pc race suit, well maybe there is a point of taking some extra care, but consider that no amount of mink oil will protect you from a nice slide on the pavement which in a lifetime of a race suit is almost an expected fate...

Food for thought.

Bickle recommends Aussie Leather Conditioner. It is somewhat difficult to find.

I recommend Lexol. it is a spray on liquid conditioner. You buff it in, for a matt finish. You can get Lexol from Tandy Leather.

John repaired the crash damage to my Dainese suit at Calabogie and cleaned it as well. It's never looked so nice! Yo da Man John.

I also never do anything to my leather jacket... Only exception is when I get bird-poo on it, then I try to wash that out.
Otherwise, unintentional ride through rain makes it look new again.
If you are still looking for ways to clean it for real, above advices are all good.

+1

Although I cleaned some of the motor oil and other track crud sustained in my crash off my 1-piece white leathers the other day. Just used the same leather cleaner/conditioner that I use on my leather sofa and it came out great. Otherwise, a damp cloth will just work for light stuff such as bug guts.
