Problems in Hockley

I saw this on Sunday through Hockley as well, I ride alone but there was a MASSIVE gathering at the store there. I noticed the ice cream shop on Forks of the Credit is now blocked off, not sure if that was because of all the bikes gathering there but it was a hot spot last year when I went through.
I was there Sunday (afternoon) and thought it was ok. Certainly not was was described in the OP. Decent number of riders, but all kept to their groupings, of which I didn't see any more than 3 to 4. Good mask discipline, no loitering inside. Was actually happy to see them getting the business they need.

Not sure what you mean by blocked off, but they sell ice cream inside the shop now. I guess they just use one line for everything.

There's the general store but there's also a dedicated ice cream shop beside the conservation area.

I drove by and it looked all roped off, no parking, I could be wrong again I don't stop at any places or look to hard for parking but didn't see any bikes parked and looked roped off.

Gotcha. I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about the stand attached to the coffee shop.

What time was this ...

Higher Ground (the coffee shop at the main intersection in Belfountain) closes at 5 pm, and the seating area in front of it is "roped off" (because outside dining supposedly isn't allowed per provincial regs), and the parking area would be "roped off" with no one there if it were after hours. It was most certainly open during the day ... I was there (early afternoon). Having said that, the number of riders hanging out was a bit marginal given the provincial regulations, and the store owners would actually prefer that people not hang out for too long, especially in groups ... the neighbors make phone calls. (Cops drove by and did nothing)

The actual ice cream shop next to the entrance to the (closed) provincial park, as far as I can tell, is closed, and has been closed for months. That spot has never been the hang-out location.

Hockley was OK on Saturday; I wasn't there Sunday.

Let's not be pushing our luck, and creating a bad name for ourselves, please.

100%.

Tim's in Port roped off the front where all the bikers park and drink coffee.

So go ride people.
We are not to gather and you do not have to talk to randumb others

Our idiot bikers here in DR have decided NO and they moved to the back parking lot that has to stay open.

If a group of people choose to meet at a location, No one should take issue with that.

Unless:

They are causing a disturbance or endanging themselves and/or others.
They are blocking the entrance(s) to the businesses at said location.
They are choosing not to support businesses in said location. (Loitering)
They are not following the laws / bylaws for said location, area, city etc. (including health & safety)
They leave the location in a worse state then they found it. (littering etc.)
They have been asked not to be in said location due to one of the reasons above.

It is not hard to act like a sensible person, don't be guilty by association.

I don't really get the big rides/meetups, smaller group of 3-6 is perfect, everything is easier, setup, gas, foodies, more riding less standing around....
Very often the same reason fish swim in schools. The sharks can't get them all.

This just more of the "loud pipes save lives" BS. Loud pipes risk rights just like a bunch of squids acting like squids means less places to ride or lower speeds in the fun bits.

But carry on. Spin it into the redzone to confirm you have something you need to overcompensate for.

Nah no where near (I think) but had to get groceries and watching the fucktards "hang" was amusing. Not one had a coffee in their hands

I don't get it either (outdoors) but that is what is asked of us right now.

The problem as I see it:

A public roadway is a strip of land meant for transportation by motorized vehicles, bicycles and possible horses.

A sidewalk is a pathway along the SIDE of the roadway for people to WALK.

There is IMO no provision in the general laws for the above to be used for recreation or entertainment. That means no motorcycle rides, group bicycle rides, rod runs, racing, stunting, scenic tours, etc.

Similarly a SIDE WALK, is for walking at the side of the road. No bicycles, e-bikes, joggers, skate boards, roller blades, hopscotch, Pogo sticks, loitering, hover boards, Segways, patio bars, lemonade stands etc.

Particularly in large urban areas the land set aside for roads and sidewalks was done decades before the motorcycle, bicycle, e-bike, roller blade etc crazes. THERE IS NO LAND LEFT unless someone wants to tear down the Eaton Centre to widen Yonge Street.

Opposites:

A) In medicine, generally speaking you can not use a new drug, procedure or device unless it has been specifically approved by accredited bodies.

B) In most other fields a person can use anything anywhere unless it has been specifically banned by accredited bodies.

In case B, I don't think there is a specific law against putting wheels on your windsurfer and blasting down a sidewalk. The police would have to use a general purpose catch-all charge. The same goes for any of the above "Toys", thus the problem. Make a new toy and when it becomes a danger to life, limb or enjoyment of life a ban has to be imposed, usually too late.

Misconceptions and miscellaneous:

Motorcyclists have no specific rights in our constitution. A plaza, restaurant etc can ban motorcycles as long at they don't ban only some riders because of race etc. Owners of private property have the right to restrict usage. No heavy trucks, No motorcycles etc. Abuse it and lose it. Why do so many people assume a parking lot is a free venue?

Motorcyclists aren't treasured customers. They don't buy big things. Too often they at best buy a two dollar coffee while taking up two parking spots so they can angle their ride in a cool pose.

It is my understanding that while motorcycle insurance operates under the same general laws as car insurance motorcycles are, in Ontario, considered recreational vehicles. When you p*** people off don't expect them to sign your "Fair motorcycle insurance premiums" petitions. The general public will think minimum $10,000 a year motorcycle premiums will get more idiots off the roads.

Mankind and goats are both known for destroying the environment that supports them. Don't be a goat.
