Pro6 Monday 7th

I sure do! I use it mostly for beeping at friends when they run off the track, only when they're standing there looking irritated and not laying on the ground, of course. :)

Ahhhhh so that's how you're supposed to do 5 and 7. I was kinda beelining the brake zone and others were swinging wide and cutting back, but you seem to split the difference and brake in a slight curve?

I don't know if that's how you're supposed to do it, but that's how I manage to do it. :) I see a lot of other riders swing out to the left before turning in for 5 and 7 but it doesn't seem to make sense to me, really leaves the door open. I brake really deep into 5 also.

Do they not put out apex cones at Shannonville? Not seeing any in the videos. That must be tough on folks who are new to the track. Maybe explains why some of the riders in yellow look a bit wobbly and uncertain.

Yeah I don't have the balls to brake as deep into 5 as you do.

But yeah the swinging wide into 5 and 7 didn't look right to me either but straightlining the braking zone didn't feel right either when I tried. I'm sure you got it right, I can even see how it makes sense from a vehicle dynamics perspective.

If you try to get to the left for 5 you just can't brake deep since you have to turn left a fair bit at the last second. For 7 if you come out of Allen's mid-track it takes a bunch of time to get to the left. 7 opens up so nicely that you can cut in right tight and get on the gas very early.

I was having a very hard time getting it turned tight enough for 6. I was running a 180 on a 4.5" rim as an experiment, and the experiment was a failure. It wasn't terrible, but the SV definitely handles better with a 160 rear and a 120/70 (120/60 is OEM fitment) front. I've got some slicks in those sizes on there now and will be trying them out at GBR June 1st.

What are you riding? I wonder if your set up isn't letting you steer quite tight enough for 5/6/7. It's pretty tight there. smergy was having a tough time getting his CBR-1k turned tight enough in the morning, but after John Sherrard made a few tweaks it was much easier for him to get through that section.

Sometimes, depends on the track day host I think. Pro6 never seems to put cones out, although I've been there after a FAST Riding School weekend and the cones were still out. It's kind of subjective anyway, but for sure the cones are a good start for people new to the track. It's easy to fixate on them though, and not look through the corners and realise what you're actually doing. Does that make sense? I mean, if you're riding cone to cone you may miss the bigger picture. Pro6 usually has a few instructors who are willing to show new riders around the track, which is great.

Street Triple that John set up for me in the mortning. The bike's not the problem LOL!

LOL, okay. Black one? I think I saw you. I didn't watch any on-track sessions though since we were set up pretty far from the track. Maybe sitting up so high is causing a bit of loss of front end feel for you. My old Aprilia Tuono felt a bit vague in the front end at times.

No no, nothing to do with my bike. I just didn't think to try that line, but seeing you do it gave me that eureka moment. The reason I'm scared to brake with a slight lean is that I'm still learing and my feel isn't great. I'm more a cerebral rider which is another thing I need to fix.

Glad there was something useful in my video for you. :) Too bad there aren't any more Nelson days this year for you to try it (at least according to motorcycletrackdays.ca).

glad that you got to see yourself a few times. what bike were you?

Blue and Red R6. From the looks of it, my body positioning could use some work...gotta get more confidence to hang off the bike some more and get my corner speeds up. Had a blast nonetheless.
