Private nurse (respite?) for VERTEBRO/KYPHOPLASTY) procedure

I have an upcoming day-surgery procedure at Toronto Western Hospital, that requires me to have someone escort me home afterwards.

I may have to look into hiring a private nurse.

Has anyone here used a similar service ?

I'm looking at booking a hotel / motel for a day or two, and having the nurse check me in / escort the first night

I've also heard the term "respite service" being thrown around, but I'm not sure how that works.

Any info appreciated.

Oh, and check your extended health benefits plan if you have one as they may cover the costs for you...or failing that, see if you can get a friend to do this for you...

Many senior homes have respite service suites/rooms. There is usually a nurse on site and PSWs to help you and check in on you. Meals provided as well. Check with a seniors home near you or where the procedure is taking place. If you need to be transported, a non emergency ambulance type service like Medevac or Voyago will pick you up after procedure and take you to the respite place. Perhaps this might be covered if you have extended health coverage.
Good luck with your procedure.
