Lol...he's a busy guy and does stuff for you as a favour usually in his spare so he's not too out there himself. If I posted what I paid him for tire changes and other ****, I'm sure more than half of GTAM would line up outside his shop...which he probably wouldn't want.
He powdercoated a watch matte black for me and I just got it back from Oakley two days ago after I had the plain black dial replaced with a carbon fiber one. It looks SEXY!! That's the type of random **** he'll do for you, just don't expect it back the next day...
I will post some before and after pics when I get home.
if you know of anyone local that does ceramic coating and will accept one offs by all means give them a plug as i was unaware of anyone local that would
i only recommended QC because of my experience with them and that the place is owned/run by motorsport enthusiasts
so whats the going rate for 2 rims ? nothing fancy, just black can be matte or gloss, tires are off, bearings and such already removed, need some cleaning/sandblasting and then powder coat, these are not for a bike worth thousands of dollars.....
If you guys hurry, TorontoMazda3's groupbuy section is hosting a decently large number of participants (10+ by my last count) for powdercoating with Stripping Technologies.
How it looked (not mine but it was the exact same)...Cool, but too shiny, heavy as hell, a fingerprint magnet and not good for everyday use.
After being refitted with a rubber strap, powdercoated, and having the dial replaced with a carbon fiber one it goes very well with bike gear and looks a lot more sporty. Now I wear it everyday, thanks JohnnyP!!
here is one where the dial isn't catching light, the carbon is actually pretty subtle but really comes out when light hits it at the right angle...
