Potential new rider with some questions

I'm just in the process at pricing and looking at bikes now and I think better prices are now as opposed to spring. Especially for those of us looking for starter bikes.

you should check out Motorsoul. I took my course there this summer and they are amazing. I saw they have a big sale at the end of October. check it out
Thats what I was thinking too blinky, RTI has some pretty late weekend lessons. Hoping to take the M1 this week.

I agree that prices do seem to be coming down, though I feel the frequency of new starter bikes going up has decreased. I looked into motorsoul and it seems great, but its tough for me to get to Queens Quay for those morning sessions, where as RTI's location is a bit more convenient for me.

RTI is great as well, i took my course there as well, great group of people, and the instructors were really friendly and helpful, so I will go back to them for my M2 exit.

Just to update everyone I got my M1 today and also booked the M1X with RTI (East North York next weekend if anyone else is going to be there). The cold also seems to have spurred on more used bike postings as well, I'm hoping to pick one up after my M1X.

Thanks to everyone who shared their wisdom, much appreciated.

Congrats on pulling the trigger. As for the course, just dress warmly and you should be fine -- I did my course around April 1st of 2012 between about 5-10C and actually found it too warm for what I was wearing at times (so took a layer or two off), as speeds don't really get above 10 or 20km/h.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to bring along stuff in the car just to have those options.

I was hoping to solicit some opinions but didn't want to start a new thread. Basically, 250cc cruiser (think Honda Rebel, V-Star/Virago 250, etc) vs the CBR125. These seem to be the best deals on the used market right now so I'm leaning towards one of them as a first bike. Which would be the better starting bike to ride for a half a season to a season? Assume full usage, commuting, highway riding, etc. Thanks :).
