Trade my Versys 650 for a minty clean first gen z1000. Love the look, and the feel, can't wait to get out for a real ride on it.

Very nice. How did insurance change from versys? Drop or about the same?

Dang, I guess age doesn't really matter much. Thought 1gen was pretty old enough to warrant less insurance.

For me, the insurance rate is 99% dictated by the CC amount, not the type or age of bike. Though I've never tried to insure a supersport. I assume Iceman's situation is the same.

KTM supermoto 625cc cost me about the same as a V-Strom 650. Super Tenere 1200 cost me a bit more than a FZ1

As regder said.

But claims history on bike models counts too. My 20 year old, 100hp vtr1000f was more to insure than my 175hp tuono 1100rr...

Well nearly 200 more is still a hair under $800/year so not too bad. The versys was also a 650. My klr is costing me $536, the wife's Gladius is $680 full coverage.

Well I was wrong. Got insurance through Mitchell and Whale, liability only is $644/year. It's only $60 or so more than my versys.
Had the z out today for a couple hundred kilometers, I like.

After 3 years on touring Harley’s I’m changing things up a little this year. Still an air cooled twin though. I’ve kicked tires on a few Monsters over the years. Should of done it sooner...makes all the right sounds, light, perfect balance of power and just a fun simple bike to blast around on.
