Re: Post Pics of your Bike.

I see that this thread is mainly sport and supersport, but I think a sport tourer from Yamaha is in order. And a vintage one as well.

This is my first ride, a 1982 Yamaha Vision (XZ550). The mods are as follows:
  • installed full fairing kit from '83 model
  • installed risers from '83 model (they are about 2" lower and better with the above fairing)
  • JB welded the lower corners of the tank then fiberglassed the bottom edge and then smoothed out with bondo (no more tank seam to look at.....it was ugly)
  • took off rear grab handles and filled in the areas with bondo so it is now sporting the shaved look
  • painted footpeg bracket frame gloss black with Hammertone Blue pinstripping
  • MAde my own windsreen from solid black Lexan
  • installed HID H4 kit
  • Installed LED lights in instrument panel and in tail lights
  • repainted the whole bike Hammertone Blue from Sherwin Williams Industrial Paint
  • installed digital 5 function volt meter by Show Chrome Accessories
  • installed seperate sitches in dash for radiator fan and also for future driving lights
  • replaced DOT3 fluid with DOT4

Thanks! It's great to have it out again ... great to have options too!

Do you get any break at all having 2 bikes on insurance or do you pay as if you had one bike. Luv the night rod just not sure about the clam riding position is all.

... which was made worse via drag bars, hence the second bike for longer rides.

I got a 10% discount from Primmum (TD) for the two bikes ... surprised me, as last year I asked and they didn't offer it.

Re: Post Pics of your Bike.

Bikes never look as good as when they are loaded up for a trip. You strapping joe rocket saddle bags to your back seat?
That's actually a Joe Rocket tail bag that I use just to have as a backrest on long rides and store extra stuff while I'm at it. It makes a great backrest on 1000km days and helps promote better posture. I also have a pair of Teknic saddle bags from when I used to have my VFR and I throw those on top of my top box for a longer haul.

Shanekingsly, where was that pic taken? Beautiful!
The picture was taken about 15km NW of Huntsville on Ravenscliffe Rd (also known as Hwy 2) which runs south from the hwy 518. There's a nice dead end road just off Ravenscliffe that is good for a quick break and a nice view. It's kind of hard to tell, but that day I was riding in torrential downpours for about 4 hours of my trip with next to zero visibility in the turns. I had the day off work and wanted to go up to the 518 and over to Calabogie. As soon as I got to the 518 the clouds turned very dark. I never made it to Calabogie that day. The Metzler Tourance tires gripped really well and my clothes kept me totally dry so it was a good experience to see how well the bike and I handled in the rain... Here's another shot.
