A couple of new farkles for the Tiger.

New pegs and a tool tube. I was incredibly lucky and found a used set of the New Zealand made Thunderbike crash bars right here in Toronto. At times with an older bike, the pickings are slim in the aftermarket and you have to pick up the grinder and fab it yourself. To that end, I made a side stand foot and a crude, but effective radiator/oil cooler guard. Also mounted the K60 Scouts.

2016 Silverado 2500HD with Z71 "Offroad" suspension, electronic-select 4x4, LTZ option package (one down from "fully loaded" Hill Country) and Duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel with Allison 6-speed transmission. 397hp, 765tq rating with up to 14,300 pound tow capacity.

Deal's Gap trip fuel economy, includes idling at the border for 1/2 hour, some short side trips and a trip through watertown behind a police funeral for 1/2 hour. Also some backroad trips into Robbinsville from the house and a trip to the Wheels Through Time museum at Maggie Valley. Horsing it the whole way at 75mph+ most of the time, in heavy traffic. Tow weight estimate is something well over 6,500 pounds including bikes, beer, trailer and the jerks in the cab. Let's not forget that the truck itself weighs nearly 8,000 pounds.

By comparison, my 6L/6spd gas 1500 truck last year towed a bit less weight and got 34.5L/100km fuel milage at about 65mph. And the transmission hunting combined with the engine screaming up hills at 4500 rpm was really tiring. The new truck? 1700 RPM and it only downshifted a few times - to about 2100 RPM - during 12% grade climbs in the mountains.

It's amazing how comfortable these new big trucks are. They used to be so loud and so cheaply put together inside. This truck has heated seats and steering wheel, as well as movable pedals and power memory seats! Taken while in the rear seat as Jim Long took a turn at the wheel:

Quite pleased. Honestly, it's turned me into a bit of a "truck guy," but I'm sure I'll get over it.

This, along with about 300 beer and all our gear, was in the trailer.

Nice set up bro! I love that truck and the look it is way better then the gmc the front end wise, my friend bought the same truck and they're surprisingly smooth. Definitely no like the old days.
 
Very nice truck! I am sure it set you back a pretty penny though. The comfy, heated seats and steering wheel trucks of new don't come cheap!

I know a salesperson very well, so I got a better deal than most. You can get almost 25% knocked off the price, if you know someone. Which is crazy, right?

BTW, was looking at the build sheet. I thought my 2013 Aprilia had a lot of acryonyms, etc. to make a long name.

This is a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Z71 LTZ-Plus Sport Edition 4x4 Duramax 6.6L. Yah. Say that three times fast.

I got it from Sturgess in Hamilton (great place), I believe this was the last one in stock. I got a good deal on it.

LOve the look of those K60 tires. I would imagine the new tire buzz lasts a lot longer with these over, say, another tire.
