Hi Folks, I live along one of the more popular routes to Port Dover.
I know it's early for Dover, but I also know a lot of us are now back onto the roads and I thought it appropriate to point out a potentially hazardous intersection.
If you are heading towards Hwy 6 south and take Book Road east at the stoplight from the Hwy 6 bypass in Hamilton, be careful at the Glancaster "T" Junction. This is a stop for you but not for Glancaster Traffic.
As you approach the turn you cannot see traffic approaching from your left, you need to creep forward until you can see past the trees. Technically you can see far enough if traffic is doing the posted speed limit, however most folks translate the 60km/h limit to imperial by doubling it and adding 30.
My wife's car was totaled when she was traveling North on Glancaster and turning left onto Book when an elderly gentleman decided that Book was Stoptional. Then again yesterday afternoon we were traveling South on Glancaster approaching Book when another driver decided to proceed through the stop sign without slowing down. We narrowly missed another accident.
Also be aware that this is officially part of the Hamilton Bicycle route and large gangs of cyclists (20 to 50 riders at a time) will also take this turn without stopping or looking.
I just want everyone to stay safe
