Pool and Foosball

Ah ok my bad. I thought they all fell under the CPA umbrella.
The league were were in was called "Real Men's 8 Ball", and was local to Hamilton bars only, and played Monday nights. It wasn't for $$$, just trophies / gifts and a yr end banquet.
Women's similar league played Tuesdays. And a mixed league played Wednesdays.
I can't find any info online. (don't do facebook).

There’s this…

But the last post was from 2018…

No idea. I hit the bail button before you. I can ask Dennis or Jeff. I don't have Lucky's info. or any of the others. I'd be up to play if it happens.
I haven't seen or heard from any of them^^^ since the last banquet I went to.....'17? '18?
I see Gerry all the time (you might have replaced him?)

You could call Dan.

<ducks>

Yup. That was a different league. Different set of rules (proper, ours were more relaxed).
I played 1 yr. Too many fights, arguments etc. Good competition though.
They ran 8 ball tournaments on Saturday afternoons. Think I paid my mortgage off from that....lol.
Yes. I wasn't a big fan of the 'lose so your rank stays low'. Lots of arguments, lots of games.

I still remember both me and my opponent were told to 'lose at all costs before the weekend tournament'.

Basically we spent 10min both trying to lose...I lost (on purpose!) and it was an epic game! Not sure how I managed to hit that 8-ball hanging over the corner pocket and launching it at the 'wrong' pocket.

Went to the Crooked Cue in Bloor West on Thursday and the feel of the game started coming back real fast. Don't think I have time to join a league or a weekly night of pool, but it would be good to find some place more regular to play with good cues and tables, but not trying to empty my wallet. Any suggestions for Mississauga or Bloor West?

Also there is someone on FB Marketplace in Etobicoke who sells refurbished foosball tables of all kinds (good quality ones) and will even do custom graphics. Now I just have to convince my wife we need a table in the basement.

Isn't there a crooked Cue in Port credit
Also another pool hall at Winston Churchill and Dundas. Beside the bowling place.

Not sure of the quality of tables and cues.

I didn’t even know that place was still around. I used to go there when it first opened up and back then they had some of the nicest tables in Mississauga. Also had nice cues with the smaller brass tips.

There was also another place close to Creditview and Burnhamthorpe that had really nice pool tables called ESC or executive snooker club.

@shanekingsley
How much is a decent cue?
Or do you not want to go down that rabbit hole?

I used to have a cue called a Sneaky Pete. I only paid $80 for it and bought it off another team member from we league we were in. It looked exactly like a typical bar cue and had a really nice tip and very nice weight. I usually prefer a 21oz cue for breaking and a 20oz cue for playing, but this was a 21 oz cue and I used it for everything. I don't think I would spend over $100, considering with that $80 cue, I was crushing people with $400 cues. I watched drunken former pool pro's crushing people with the house/bar cues.

Interesting story about that cue is that a guy I used to work with had 2 small daughters and could not go out and party at night anymore, so one day he says to me that he is going to learn how to be a pool master. I could beat him pretty consistently, but then he bought a table and started practicing every night by himself after the kids went to bed, doing all kinds of drills.

I gave him that cue to practice with. He would record his drills in a pad of paper, then created all sorts of charts to track his progress and within a couple months he was routinely crushing me. A few months later he was routinely winning local tournaments and a year or so later he was playing in Vegas. It was amazing how good he became with serious dedicated practice.

Remembered the other night that there was a GTAM Pool Tournament a while back.
