I just saw a report FB/meta stock dropped because of their "first" user base loss, not sure if it was the first one, I suppose it's not a "cool" platform anymore,,, Saying that I personally technically still a user as I still have FB app on one of my tablets for "backwards compatibility" with some of the people who's still there and for Events/Meetings..

So I am curious what this moto community uses nowadays?

I'd define "use" as a mild dependency - checking that particular social media at least 3 times a week.
I know there are more, but I run out of options so I listed those where I do have an account and active somewhat.
Post your poison in the comments if it's not under options.

Thanks.

P.S. I just edited my description of FB as I realized my bjj prof and the club is very active there for updates/competitions/photos....

Posting only here. Looking, a couple other places.

Use = consuming as well,,,
I never post on TickTock but oh boy it's addictive! I thought originally there is nothing for the "old man" like myself but was I wrong ;)

I didn't include FB...but I check out their Marketplace all the time.

well, I agree it could be comparable with Kijiji, and that's not social IMO... I also realized that FB was a great platform for organizing Events/Meetings before the Rona I used solely for, but with current situation is pretty dead now...

Discord? Twit?

Discord? Twit?

Yeah, alternatives are coming in force, as I said I ran out of fields (there is a limit) and so far I haven't used Discord yet so it didn't come to my mind instantly when I posted..

On this note I also just realized I missed one of the main ones - Twitter! It's huge but I never came around to use it personally...

so many platforms...

snapchat? Is it still a thing or only for teens?

I use FB to keep in touch with family friends overseas, it's easy that way to get a slice of what people are up to. Also some FB groups are helpful, motorcycling, buy & sell. But not much deep diving there. Otherwise it's good potty entertainment.

GTAM and some other forums.

Recently lurking around Reddit, actually been kinda helpful found some useful information and resources.

Snapchat - yeah, another one, I think it was popular, but TickTock totally destroyed it at this point IMO

Reddit was totally unknown to me personally till whole meme stocks circus :) Now, it fully competes with all my other online addictions :)

I found FB marketplace has a HUGE reach, last summer when I was posting hot tubs for sale I'd get about a thousand-1200 views in a couple of days compared to 50 or so on kijiji. It means dealing with a lot more time wasters/questions but things sell quick if priced right.
Reddit has sucked up many hours for me. Could have easily learned another language by now lol.

no slack?
Where my devs at

This is the only site I ever post on. I skim advrider and a couple other forums. Motorcycle stuff on reddit is okay, but it's pretty shallow in comparison to a forum.

I've heard that "installing Twitter is like cupping your hands together so that strangers can sh!t directly into them". Although to be honest, that's more or less true of the comments section of any semi-anonymous site these days. As a rule I attempt to never read the comments of news sites, and I always regret it when I forget that rule.

I used to skim Imgur for funny memes and pictures of cute/funny dogs & cats, but I had to stop because it was becoming overrun with posts about American politics. It was starting to make my cynicism about the world even worse.

Discord is where the vast majority of users at in.

Discord pretty much killed gaming forums for analysis and guides. Google is **** for information due to marketing/sales taking over as opposed to objective truths; it was fine for me until 2014 or so. To find good information, I've found Googling for a Discord community, then browsing/talking to members there to determine if they're retards or not to be far more effective.

I've also found hilarious Discord servers where the average age is 13-20, and the conversations bring me back to high school....except all the other 25-40 year olds are called grandpa or dinosaurs by the community lol. I've also found this super useful for "staying in trend" with the up and coming generation: it's much easier to establish rapport with younger colleagues when they start chanting: "ONE OF US, ONE OF US, ONE OF US."

Though software development specific, stackoverflow is a massive community that ranges from boomer devs to high school kids. The system, similar to reddit, weeds out ******** very fast but the rebuttals are often harsh af with little mercy compared to reddit. Reddit has pretty much been ruined due to oversensitive *****, which has made the upvote/downvote system a popularity contest instead of truths.

To further discussion on this....I have a strong opinion that the next "up and coming" online community will be in virtual reality. For those who know about "Uganda Knuckles", you get why lol

9Gag is very similar to imgur (probably because they host/pull images there/from often.) Facebook's public posts (random communities, ranging from motorcycle wheelies to politics) would give me cancer if possible; very similar to news comments you mentioned. I swear everyone gets dumber if they participate in that ****.
