Please Darwin..

Kramer? Pretty sure those lids won't stay on when the drink is dropped weather it's secure or not. Why is Starbucks paying for some morons clumsiness...

Hell, I'm in at 10 million.

I haven't run the numbers for a coffee cup but a pop bottle falling off the table and landing on the floor goes to a little over 100psi. A coffee cup with a huge lid snapped on does not stand a chance.

I was nearly badly burned by a superheated coffee I picked up at Second Cup. I had asked for "not too hot".
I took a very small sip. Burned my lip a bit ....that damn coffee was not cool enough to drink until I got to Barrie from Bayview.
They don't teach the baristas how dangerous steam is.

For years starbucks has put a thermometer in every drink before they put the lid on.

In the drink? More likely in the milk frother container where it should be. I've not seen in the drink itself.
When I ask for 140 I want 140 ....not that hard.

Most adults will suffer third-degree burns if exposed to 150 degree water for two seconds. Burns will also occur with a six-second exposure to 140 degree water or with a thirty second exposure to 130 degree water. Even if the temperature is 120 degrees, a five minute exposure could result in third-degree burns.

Both the McDonalds case and this Starbucks case happened at a drive-thru. Just ban all drive-thrus and the problem is solved. It'll also help lower emissions, and obesity as people will actually have to get out of their cars and waddle over to the poison dispensery.

I was burned by a scolding tea in a macdonalds when I was a kid.. but my granddad did it.. so no payoff.
