Places to Ride around K-W

Are you looking for a practice track for mx? Trail ride? The Steel City Riders have an awesome track at Oshwekon tht you can ride as a dues paying member.Or there is this. http://www.kwcyclesport.ca/

I heard of a place called Gophers dunes that has trails and a couple courses but have no knowledge other then that

when I had my BWS 50 I use to mess around behind Best Buy off Fairway Rd. You'll need to find your way near the rich people houses to find the off road trails they have made in that same area.

Eagles nest in Oshweken SUCKS. Do not go there. It sucks so much that it's not safe in my opinion. Big square holes in landings, typically filled with old tires or concrete rubble. I have ridden almost every single track in Ontario and that place is at the bottom of my list. The owner does not look after the place. Nobody I ride with ever rides it, despite that it's 30 min away, we would rather drive 2 hours to go to another track.

Gopher dunes in courtland is amazing. It's a national track and is the roughest sand track in Canada when it gets chewed up, which I like to an extent. Deep sand riding is a bit frustrating until you figure out how to weight the bike and keep that throttle twisted. The trails there are pretty good as well! It's worth the drive.

Also, motopark in chatsworth. Awesome track, and a crap load of trails that are a bit more technical than the ones at gopher dunes. There is also camping with hookup there if you need it.

Thanks rmemedic!

That's a drag to hear about eagles nest... I was hoping it would be a decent place to ride, especially since its so close. I think I'll check out Gopher Dunes in the next week or so.

eagles nest isnt that bad, its clay, and the only time it gets groomed is when it rains, so yes it is rough, its not the death trap medic makes it out to be

altho i suspect from KW area gopher dunes would be closer. Also there is the tillsonburg indoor MX which should be opening up shortly for the winter.

and what about the thamesford pits

As a note, you need a DB Dawg do ride the Pit.

Theres a great track that's closer to K-W than Eagles Nest or Gopher, but it's private, and is a bit over the head of a novice rider (steep jumps and landings with rutted up faces).

As you get in with guys, you will get these private places open to you. I have a handful of places I can ride that are off to the public, but it's all because of who I know, and who knows me.

Yeah, I need to get a dB Dawg. I was looking at the spark arrester to go with it but then reading Ganny of Gopher web sites I couldn't find anything bike requirements. Ganny says to keep things like first aid and flares in your kit so if I'm shooting flares I guess I shouldn't worry about a few sparks. haha...

Anyway, yeah, I've heard of a few places to ride that are secret, but potentially not legal either.

I saw in the paper today that they're opening another BMX part, this one in Cambridge. We need an MX park!

I need to Get a whole new exhaust to make my bike quieter. to ride some private tracks. the DB dawg will not fit into my Stock pipe of my 2012 KX450 because it is not straight through it has a bend a the end. so i am getting FMF Q4 and mega bomb should make it quieter and with db dawg if needed. My YZ 125 passes the sound test at the private tracks but 450 won't

BMX parks are easy. only reason why MX parks are high is zoning for sounds that's half the reasons all of them get shut down.

Double B in orange Ville Arthur Got Shut down (SOUND ZONING)
Rodney Motocross track
Auburn Hills MX track
and many more

This is a new track put up this year
does not look any thing good right now but it has potential

Yeah, true enough. I guess even in the country in KW region the population density is high enough that unless you have a massive bush on your property the noise will travel to the neighbours.

The private track video just put up by friend

Hey - I rode that track two weeks ago! Had a blast there. I was lucky enough to get an invite from another good forum member, and now I've got a track 'membership'.

I'll be looking to try the Pit very soon too.

Hey boozerdave - get those seals done so we can do this shiz.

Weldinglover - how's the 450 on the track? That things got to be a beast.

MX sounds like a blast, always wanted to give it a go. Too bad street, track and hockey seem to suck up all the money. One day :)

I'm taking it into the shop for the full "race prep" service and fork service tonight. He said should be able to have it back for the weekend!

All of a sudden tomorrow looks like a sick day (19°C and sunny!), too bad my bike isn't ready. :(
