Phone plans

I’m being tempted by the Note 20 Ultra as I can see how some of these features could be useful for my work. One concern would be…just how big is this thing? Can you still put it in a pocket?

I like the idea of taking notes using the included pen.

I don’t like the idea of the price but work would pay for a significant portion of it.

You can save a few bucks by going with the regular note 20 and not the ultra.

The ultra has a super high end camera most people don't need and a few other frills.

The screen is just fine and none to large. I hate small screen phones.

I have wireless chargers everywhere I spend much time (bed, office, workbench,tv,etc). Just throw a phone in the charger if I am sitting. I have been burned before by letting phones run down during the day and then getting a power outage just before bed. Then need to charge phones from battery packs as they don't have enough juice for another day. Wireless makes it really easy to keep phones mostly charged at all times.
Bingo, IF you`re sitting.

I have days where i power use it and jump into the car to travel with 20% battery life and i still won't get home for hours. The wireless option i've seen isn't going to cut it, around 30 minutes and i'm back to 80% with the appropriate car adapter.

To get a decent deal thesedays you have to leave your provider and hope for a winback call. Loyalty means absolutely zero to these companies.

I got a $45 25gb $300 phone credit 1000 international mins plan with fido now after leaving for telus a few months ago and getting a call back. At the time they offered me upto 10 lines with the same plan too so can get everyone in the house on it.

Btw, I've build this last year:

(yes, it's a wireless charger).

at what wattage?
Most of my wireless chargers are 10 watts. Some of the older ones are 5 watts. They will never be as fast as cable (but sometimes that's a good thing as hammering a battery is not great for longevity). Your use case for wired in the car makes a lot of sense. Wireless charging in the car with waze going and high screen brightness is basically maintenance with a slow charge.

My Scosche magnetic wireless car charger is 15w. It's marginally slower than Apple's @ 18w wall charger.

I bought the MagicMount Charge 3. The 360º rotation comes in handy for GPS and other landscape mode apps.

I have never done the whole contract thing. I'm with public Mobile right now (over 2 years) and pay $26 tax in for 2GB of data, unlimited calling and texting and they are on the Telus network so I have coverage where I live (boonies)

The plan is actually $30+tax, but you get discounts for auto billing (pay by CC), loyalty ($1/month off per year) and referrals ($1/month off per person). And if you find you want more data or they have a better promo, it's month to month so you can just change your plan whenever.

Sooo if anyone does want to get a cheap plan, my referral code is 88MPJY and you would get $10 off by using it.

So….I'm in a feisty mood apparently but I sense a small injustice…

Rogers Father’s Day promo said “purchase a qualifying phone by June 21 and get a free pair of Samsung wireless earbuds”….so I did. Changed the plan…talked to the agent..he gave instructions for how to get the device online. Perfect I thought…except the website isn’t working properly and won’t process the transaction. So I called in again and processed it over the phone at about 7pm.

Now the rub…because I couldn’t purchase it on the website proof of ordering was sent the next working day from the phone order. Went to claim the buds and was told I need proof of purchase from the 21st.

Samsung won’t budge and Rogers can’t provide me with a document to prove I ordered on the 21st despite admitting that the order was processed on that day.

Wankers. At least Twitter is good for one thing though!

Costco threw in iQ Podz with each device. I expected them to sound worse than they do (not great but they were free).

On Rogers messenger chat the guy admitted the order went through on the 21st and he can see it in the system but said he couldn’t provide me with a document to say so.

Good job I screenshotted the lot. Just posted the relevant bit to Rogers Twitter.
