Philosophical questions

Why do people always hack up the nice colour coded wiring harnesses on older Japanese bikes?
So they can connect those cool looking (in the ad) LED turn signals that aren't visible enough by twisting wires together and surrounding the connection with electrical tape so that someone a year later gets to practice electrical troubleshooting even though they don't know anything about electricity.

You must know the people who worked on the CBR125 I just fixed and sold.

GRRRRRRRRRR

I have been known to purchase damaged bikes to fix and resell.
The problem is I have a conscience.
I will only sell a bike if it will pass a safety check.
Usually to Alberta Out Of Province Vehicle test standards that is a lot tougher than what is required in Ontario.
If its a parts bike I never sell with ownership and bill of sale states SALVAGE.
I have purchased bikes that other people have tried and failed to "fix to sell"
It often costs me more time and money to undo their damage than what was originally caused from a collision or neglect.
I have been accused of "taking a good picture".
This simply good photography and presentation not an attempt to deceive.
If I suspect the buyer is a "curber" (now called flippers) my conscience goes away.
I used to do that, mostly for fun - there isn’t meaningful money in it.

4 years ago the local service Ontario owner asked me if I was a licensed dealer, then told me there was a crackdown on curb siding. In a friendly way she let me know buying, fixing and selling 3 street legal motorcycles a year was considered curbsiding.

I've tried going down this road before - is it simply "curbsiding" anytime you buy & sell a vehicle without intending to use it yourself?

As long as you're declaring the income from the sales on your tax return, you're not curb-siding.
Interestingly you can't deduct losses.

AFIK there has only ever been one guy charged with "curb siding", that idiot in Niagara... and he was charged twice... and he, to this day, has hundreds of ads on Kijiji

Which guy???
Is it the Windsor guys brother?

How about, “It‘s 95% finished. Just needs x and you’ll ride all season.”

I knew a legitimate car dealer with a lot that sold cars from his back yard.
People thought they where getting a better deal.
All the bills of sale where from his legitimate sales lot so it was not illegal.
He even told customers he was a curber.

-Where do all the stock Harley-Davidson exhausts go, to the land of one sock ?

Please feel free to add...
For every one HD exhaust swap there are 10+ metric bike swapped.
I wonder if Akrapovic or Yoshimura have a program to recycle stock exhausts?

When propane conversions were a "thing", I knew a guy that would buy all the nice new gas tanks that were removed in the conversion, paid $25-50 each... warehoused them (stacked in a barn) for a few years and sold them all for $250-400

My lawyer told me i can't engage in buying and selling without complying with OMVIC rules, full stop.

You can dismantle and sell parts, and resell branded vehicles, but nothing else.

I only sell stuff I have registered to me and owned for more than one year.
