On street parking. my neighborhood has permits for parking (those big window stick ons). this morning i woke to find my bike (which i usually park in the back of the driveway) had a ticket on it for parking without a permit. i am a bit shocked - how the F am i going to keep a permit on my bike? stick it to the front window? is this legit? should i fight it? what does anyone else do? thanks guys. way more ****** than the $30...

Free street parking for motorcycles generally only applies to Green P metered areas (not the Green P lots though.)

Even with that in mind, in Green P zones you still have to abide by any restrictions -- i.e. if nobody is allowed to park within certain timeframes or for longer than a certain amount of time, you must still comply with those rules.

As for permit parking, yes, they will be expecting a permit to be attached to the bike -- I have seen a number of bikes with these taped to the inside of their windscreens. Not exactly ideal for us, but it may be the only solution unless you can somehow work out something with their parking enforcement/property management etc.

Just curious, where did they leave your parking violation ticket? Where on the bike?

stuck between the tank and seat. it was double-length so it would hang out 1-ticket length, and the other bit was slid down inside the seat to hold. clearly he knew what he was doing.

Ah that sucks. Sometimes I hang my permit from the velcro patch near the mirrors on my cover. Sometimes I don't.
Haven't had the pleasure of getting a ticket yet, but let me go attach that now...

fight it even If I am wrong i fight every ticket as i dont want the city/prov makeing any money off me even if i lose the court costs would cancel any profit for them!! ( work is flexable so i dont lose time)

Do you have a permit for the bike?

If yes, go down to the office and show em the permit and they'll toss the ticket.

If no, pay up and shut up.

OP

Go to city hall and ask for a parking permit for your motorcycle. It is free. They will give you a laminated parking sticker ( same ones they issue for cars). They will also give you a nylon fastener. You attach the sticker to your bike in an obvious spot. Of Course they will check your address and avaiability of permits for your street. Be sure to bring your license and plate number.

This sticker allows you to park over night on the street where you live. It will not help you if you park some where else over night.

Thought everyone knew the free parking for motorcycles only applies to paid street parking? You have to get a (free) permit for your bike. I have one sitting here in front of me right now. It comes laminated with a zip tie and the empty packaging (it's the same permit they give you for a car but they apply it to the laminate for you and give you the empty package).
