Performance improvements to bike

Looks like you have stock foot pegs? Not sure if you've tried Pivot Pegz, I just got some for the first time, love them, pivot with the foot, and make touring more comfortable, and dirt riding. They are also a very wide platform, so feet don't get tired and calf muscles can stretch

You get a pair of plastic toppers for them so the teeth aren't sharp

Don't forget to replace your blinker fluid every 1000kms or 66 days.

Very interesting.
Might have to think about this.
The spring on my left peg does seem to be warn and the peg is a little limp.

If anyone does order, get them from their site direct, here is a coupon code to save 20% - FREEUPGRADE20

They also threw in 2 free service kits when I got them, really good customer support and arrived in 2-3 days, also each one is Handmade in Australia, finished and put together like metal artwork

@shanekingsley

You bleed your brakes yet? Theres a good braking performance upgrade!

Stainless steel brake lines would be good too.
You could turbocharge it!

That'll end well!

Making it up to Accelerated Technologies for that cartridge kit, and shock setup will be the sweetest mod you'll do.

Actually John reached out to me and I'm getting the work done on Canada Day. Can't wait!

And no I haven't bled my brakes yet - next you're going to be telling me I should check my tire pressure or chain slack. Actually I just haven't gotten around to it because I spend what little free time I have posting on here. But yes, doing that and braided lines would be much better.

As for the Pivot Pegz, I have a pair sitting in my spare parts bin and I never installed them. I just felt that the steel teeth would slowly eat away at the soles of my boots and so they have sat there for years. I bought them and a steering stabilizer when I was riding gravel and dirt much more often, but I don't really ride dirt much anymore, because then I would drop my bike and scratch my adventure stickers. Although then I could change the colour of those stickers to match my rim tape.

To be fair, it is rear wheel horse power.

Might have to open up the engine so you can paint your crankshaft to get more respectable gainz...

Engine work is $$$...

I find shedding weight is easier/cheaper so usually I just put in half the amount of oil, and coolant that's recommended.

Saves a lot of weight.

You can make you bike lighter by draining the fuel tank and converting a Camelback to a fuel cell. Just add a quick connect marine fuel coupler.

I've had a few friends looking for performance improvements, and after my suggestions, they find themselves regretting their decision because they were not ready for the added power and performance they actually got from my suggestions.

In addition to a good rim tape, you have got to put an undertail, mount neon lights inside the fairing, shorty levers, higher, smoked windscreen, VR46 stickers, and lastly, a Moto GP helmet

Ah! I can confirm that theory, because I've dropped the T7 a few times already off-road, and lets just say between twisted handlebars, a dented tank, exhaust, and a shaved off swing arm, Its broken in ?

As for the soles part, I do commute daily, and 3k later, neither work shoes (blundstones) or hiking shoes (Salomon) have any evidence or wear from the pegz.

Interesting. I was actually ok with dropping my bike. After a 6 or 7 drops on one particular ride, I got tired of picking it up. I did replace the bars with ATV bars from Pro-Taper and those never got bent even from a few spectacular mishaps.

I think the Blundstones or Salomon's might have better quality soles than my Daytona riding boots do (from a wear standpoint), but like most things, I have nothing factual to back this up with. Please report back after 50-100k on those pegs.

Maybe we could take this one further and.... remove the gas tank.

I had shorty levers - I found considerable aerodynamic gains so I would definitely concur.
Never considered the Rossi stickers - I wonder how fast my bike would be if it was a Moviestar or Repsol V-Strom.
Change those DL650 tank stickers to DL1000 - I think that's about 30hp.

There is also a beak kit available for your bike. Not sure what a beak does but it must be important because most adv bikes copied Suzuki and have beaks on their bikes.

Yeh it can get tiring, the bars themselves didn't bend, they just twisted in the triple clamps, straightened them in a few seconds. sad part was, the barkbusters gave, slipped down, and those are what damaged the tank. If I had the stock Yamaha one's, I may have broken a lever, though the flimsy plastic would have snapped before hitting the tank. Plus point is, Yamaha put a plastic cover over the tank that is easily replaceable, maybe thinking of such a thing, so its just that which got hit, it's so minor I'll leave it. I do have a bit of a phobia with the bike now I'm trying to overcome, it's so top heavy off-road, when it starts to go, I can't say a prayer quick enough

To save weight, remove rear disk, caliper and all hardware associated with rear brake.
It's a v'twin. All the rear braking power is handled by the two chunky pistons trying to slow down off of the limiter.
