As the title says. We already planned for Saturday for sure, but the weather is so great for the weekend and I am tempting to stay over night at Lock Haven or Williamsport area. It won't be an iron butt ride for the distance we are going to cover in two days. Some will return on the same day (Saturday), but if there is interested, I would not mind go a little farther South with the over night stay. No M1 and M2 please. Also ensure you have passport to cross the border. Here is the potential route (two days).

For the one day only ride, The turn around point is Warren, Pa. Pending on weather outlook and motel accommodation for the two days ride. Usually it gets very busy in Williamsport area in September due to the 1st month of school because they have parent weeks down there.

How about a breakfast at Jen's on 417 in Portville (just east of Olean,NY) at 7 am (Saturday 17-th.). I'll be there with 3 or 4 other riders, we can have a chat and take it from there.....? We're going back very late Saturday night, though.

I don't think we can meet for breakfest since we are leaving here (Hamilton) at 9:00AM. Lunch will be at Warren, Pa though.

Next time! Our lunch will be in Lock Haven or State College.

When are you all leaving? That's quite the distance you have to cover in a day. We juts went through State college on the way down to Va on the long weekend.

Leaving at 2 am. on Saturday.

I consider health insurance a must when crossing the border also. Me and others get a one year plan from CAA that is good for trips that are up to 30 days. No CAA membership required. A hospital visit can cost $10,000 for a broken arm.

I got a year for multiple trips with RBC for around $120 last year, but my company insurance also covers out of the country so I didn't renew with RBC for this year.

We had a guy from Quebec get 2 leg compound fractures on the dragon, he was over $250K by the time he got back to Canada several weeks later. And yes he had coverage.

It's well worth getting insurance when heading down there.

That's a lot of gas and tire money! :lmao:

Horror stories showing the value of insurance for out of province and country that need to be passed onto the newbies. It is something that can be easily overlooked.

The CDN. banks and CAA auto are the common places I know of that offer easily purchased health insurance. Can be done over the internet in a matter of minutes. Just need internet & a printer.

I meant my CAA coverage was like your RBC's in that it is for a year for multiple trips up to 30 days/trip for about the same price as yours. Price varies by age.

CAA and the banks are readily recognized by the hospitals in the U.S. so there appears to be no delay in receiving help when needed at the hospitals. Were as I would be concerned with other less know plans.

Sounds like a great trip.
I do not see Route 666 and the bottom half of 44 included. I did them back in June.:D

Rode 666 and 44 previously and these two are the worse (pavement wise) of all the routes in the area. The middle part of 666 was extremely bad, while the section at the East end by hwy 6 was brand new if I recall correctly.

Wow, that's really a long day!
Just the way I like it...;) Btw, I need to"train" more for CC50 next year.
Normally,we go down to Edelweiss Lodge in Ellicottville on Friday evening, but my stars didn't line up this time...:(

Koval 68,

Did not know we had the same Avatar. Changed mine.
Have a great day!
Sorry, my brother from another mother!:lol:I had no idea! Would you like me to let you know when I'm changing mine, so you can go back?

We stayed at Microtel in Olean the last two trips. We left Friday evening as well, and get there just enough time for dinner. Olean has a bit more selection on restaurants than Ellicottville. There is an Applebee and a Perkins close by Microtel.
