Parted out Stolen bikes ?

Been watching the threads on stolen bikes in the GTA and have sympathy to the loss of the Owners.

I always wondered where the stolen bikes ended up or were they parted out. I recall that a few were located during past track day events.

Reason to ask is I have been on FB, Kijji and CL seeking a couple of parts bikes to help in my restoration projects. So I contacted some sellers parting out what I thought were clean and decent bikes that hadn't exhibited any damage. Some were only a few years old. So, I had to ask if the bikes had a clear title. Not many responses but the few that did respond condemned my question and even went after me personally,

Do we know if anyone found their stolen bikes on social media?

It was a bicycle but some chick had her bike stolen and later saw it on Kijiji. She contacted the seller as if she was going to buy it. They met and she asked to test ride it first. Never stopped pedaling.

There’s a former member here that was busted in a bike theft ring sting operation a few years ago. If you draw that much attention from the cops that they name their operation you’re not swiping the odd bike.

Great way to get stabbed.

My friends husband went to check out a bike that looked like his stolen one. Guy closed the door behind him and have off stabby vibes.

Guy bailed with his bowels intact but shady as eff.

If it really bothers you, demand a VIN then go to Service Ontario and get the UVIP. If it tilts, call the auto squad.
I bought a bike for parts and ran the VIN on a website to make sure the bike wasn't stolen. Can't remember the site but it wasn't difficult to find. Bike did come with a key as well to further reinforce the fact it wasn't stolen.

mine sits in the garage with the key in it , so i cant misplace it. Whomever steals it gets the keys. And a choice of helmets from the shelf above. If they really pay attention theres a 5gal can of high test near by , its for outboards , but 4 strokes ,so top up for the getaway

And wired up to the 220V outlet.

All my stuff has keys in the ignition -- otherwise I'd lose them. When my wife wants to drive me crazy she switches up the keys.

I ALWAYS lose the keys to my bike. I started leaving one in the ignition and the other under the seat where the seat releases.

I hid my dads laser measure so we’ll I’ve been looking for it for 3-4 weeks now.

My wife has lost one winter boot. Socks I can understand. How long does she keep the boot hoping to find the other half? Half a pair of socks can be used for dusting or waxing the car but one boot????

Keyless ignition is so convenient most of the time.

However, I get so used to not using the key that in the rare occasion that I need to unlock the seat, I *always* leave the key in the seat.

I'll put the seat back on, go for a ride, come back in, and the next day, can't find the key when I want to go out again. I tear up the entire house searching for it, then finally check the seat on the bike...

Voila. There it is, dumba$$...

The other bothersome issue is when folks posting their bikes fail to mention the specific models, ie: Vstroms, FZ's, DR's etc.

Why can't they indicate the displacements of the engines.... ie: Vstrom 650 or 1000, FZ7 or FZ9, DR400 or 650, It compels me to ask which the seller for that info which adds more time to searches.
