Parking on sidewalks!?!?!? Wtf

I find it odd that even though we have free parking in Toronto, that some folks think it's not enough and choose to park on the sidewalk. I guess they don't remember when we had to pay for parking a few years back.

Ya I was curious about this.

I see scooters parked on sidewalks downtown, can motorcycles park wherever a scooter is parked?

What's different about Montreal (not sure if this is legal in Toronto); definitely not legal in Calgary; a rider can park his motorcycle on the corner of each block FREE of charge, as long as the bike is not touching the parking space lines. So you will easily see 5-6 bikes crammed into these corners downtown Montreal(***I've crammed my bike in-between these spots many times, and had to lift my legs up and crouch on my bike seat in order to successfully get off my bike, and have free parking), and it's totally free. You can also park your ride in-between cars, FREE of charge, as long as that driver has paid for his parking spot, otherwise you'll be ticketed; i've done it successfully many times, but have been unlucky a few times to receive a ticket, along with the car who's spot I parked in. <-- lol, free parking off other drivers' dime.

Neither scooters or motorcycles are allowed or should park on a side walk

If they don't get tickets is because the cops are to busy fighting criminals

.....Lol

If i am parking over night... i rather pay a ticket then have my bike knocked over.

I was my understanding that it was illegal. In Toronto you can get a ticket for parking on a side walk. That being said I've done it a few times in York region (hitting a bank for cash or whatever) and never had an issue.

I ride a Duc and the first thought that went thru my mind after seeing the photo was what a ********* owner this person is. Get your outdated ugly-a** bike off the public WALKWAY!! .....and no the oversized add-on Ducati Performance sticker does not make your bike any cooler looking.

Personally, who cares. The bike is obviously out of the way and is not impeding anyone or anything. I have zero issues with someone parking like this.

Much better than a driver learning to parallel park and knocking your bike over.

How else are you going to know it's a Ducati? You can barely read it on the tank! It needs to be HUGE so everyone knows. Just like when you buy a golf shirt, you can't get one with one of those candy *** miniature horses, it needs to be HUGE

This kind of thing kind of bugs me. Its one thing to do it down town where the side walk is huge. But I have seen this on residential streets. The side walk is for pedestrians not a motorcycle parking spot. I understand why they do it they don't want the bike to sink into the drive way, but I would be worried some one would knock it over.
To each his own I guess.

It is illegal and will cost you a ticket if you are unlucky. Sometimes it is convenient to park on side walk, have done it several times out of necessity but made sure it is not in anyone's way. So far no ticket. One time, a parking cop walked by and not even looked twice.

Ditto. With few exceptions, I think motorcycles should be allowed to park wherever bicycles are allowed to park so long as it doesn't mean riding 50 metres down the sidewalk or impeding foot traffic. It's just a bike.

This site used to be informative & useful...now, it's just one rider bashing on the other riders for parking at a wrong spot, speeding, not wearing gears, riding old bikes........& not much else.

It's just more evidence of the "me first" selfishness epidemic that is plaguing the entire country...

I've seen that parking in Montreal and wonder how the cars get out of the spots with bikes tucked into every nook and cranny....interesting.

Montreal drivers are a unique and distinctive breed. How some of these people have backed out of their parking spots, with a 2-3 ft. distance between their rear bumper, and my bike is very interesting. I've seen it a few times, it's a lot of reverse and forward; sucks if you have a manual car.

On another note, you have a lot of awful moronic drivers who can't speak english who make the roads are very dangerous place for outsiders. If you're an outsider riding a motorcycle, you really got to be attentive and vigilant.

A moron like this perhaps.

^^ Video above.

If you're a regular riding/driving in montreal's roads, you could of seen this idiot coming because it's what you expect every minute

If your an outsider, well, god speed.
