Panigale vs. S1000RR vs. RSV4

Street or track? I wouldn't take the S1000 for the street. It's got lame midrange and looks hideous.

Of these three, I really want to like the Panigale the most. But having read about 5 reviews, it's still the RSV4 for me... correct, Mike. Not that I think I'll buy one (until the 2011+ models have come down to track day pricing, at least) as what I want is the Tuono V4R.
Interesting to note that almost all the test reviews chose the S1000RR as the top dog of these three and yet said if it was their money, they'd still rather have the RSV4 because of its character and fun-factor.

Well I think we can guess which one you like the best
haha... yeah I am obviously biased, looking at my name ;-). But I am not promoting the S1000RR, I also love the Duc and think the RSV4 sgot a crazy sound. Besides that, I particularly would like to know why you guys prefer a particular bike? I am interested to see what people consider the most when choosing on of these three
And yet the BMW has the best rollon perfornance....how can this be?

The three literbikes have similar horsepower and torque until the top-end of the powerband, where the BMW carries on to an almost 20 horsepower advantage over the MV and even more over the Aprilia. The BMW revs 1000 rpm higher than the MV or Aprilia, yet makes more torque as well as horsepower - an unusual combination

That's the funny thing. In all these tests the S1000RR comes out best, both on the track and on the street. But usually when you ask fellow riders which one they like the most the Panegale is probably the most popular one amongst "ordinairy" riders. Why is that, because of the Ducati brand? It's definitely not the handling or the speed...

totally agree... me to. Besides the numbers and the expert´s opinion I think it´s especially because of peoples´ design taste and Ducati history (like mercedes and bmw cars) that people will like whatever Ducati comes out as long as it looks nice and it has Ducati on it. Don't get me wrong though, I think the Panegale is a sick bike that I would love to ride any day...
If brand didn't play such a big role probably the whole world would also drive a toyota car. Good thing that people are different!

Does the S1000 use some type of AutoTune from the factory? They were running one on the dyno after they had just rebuilt the engine (because of recall) and I've never seen a flatter/smoother AFR curve in my life!

The only bike I haven't ridden is the Panigale. But I can tell you that i would happily walk right past the S1000RR all day long to get on a RSV4. The S1000RR feels like every other inline-4 japanese (yes, japanese) bike I've owned or ridden, while the Aprilia feels like a barely-restrained race bike with a NASCAR engine.

That's a again a personal/taste/feeling reason to choose the RSV4, based on the outcome of this thread that's probably the most important consideration when choosing a bike. This is one of the many tests in which the experts choose the BMW over the other 2. I am probably the only guy that doesn't rate the three bikes that far from each other. My choice is different from day to day, although I hardly never prefer the RSV4 over the other 2

Although I love all these bikes, I would definitely take the Aprilia if I had the money.
I love the look and love to support smaller market manufacturers.
The bmw I think looks ridiculous but boy is it a screamer. Too bad they can't put down consistent results on the track ie World superbike. The small manufacturers with half the budget build the better bikes IMO (Aprilia an Ducati)
In order of liking
1. Aprilia (sexy,rare)
2. Ducati (sexy, Ltwin)

It doesn't make sense to use racing as a benchmark. Those bikes are so different from street versions... Besides that, while one team is just entering racing the others have so many years of experience. I have to give credits to BMW for improving so fast, they have become serious title contenders in just a year. But than again, what does this say about street bikes... nothing!
