Paintballing question?

Safety angle is pure BS!

Take it from someone who played semi-pro...Old paintballs do nothing but not shoot properly....old paintball thats been sitting for a while will simply explode when exiting the barrel, or be all over the place accuracy wise....had it done to my marker when i would buy old stock not knowing better.

And stop quoting old wives tales about "frozen paintballs" I'm sick and tired of hearing it....why are ppl repeating something they know NOTHING about? go and freeze paintballs and see what happens...they fall apart before they leave the barrel....the paint is NOT water based, its food grade oil, the paint inside doesnt freeze. but the outer shell is water based and it will simply fall apart when frozen. This and the fact that the paintball shrink when cold is why there are cold weather specific paintballs.

Now, there is cheap *** **** paint out there that will not break its shell because its made crappy, those will hurt, but that has nothing to do with "safety" or "frozen". I remember buying a case of paint from a local paint shop and shooting it straight into the astroturf and the thing would bounce off, in fact the paintball arena was selling the same stuff....Common misconception is that ppl go to play paintball to hurt you. Its totally opposite of that. You want paint that will break the easiest so you can mark the guy and win the game...Thats the reason that Tournament grade paint is so brittle and also about twice as expensive as crap paint.
They want to make money on you, simple as that! Going rate for a decent box of paintballs, so thats 2000 rounds is 40 dollars....so imagine what kind of a markup they have, who can buy wholesale and get it cheaper and still charge you $10 to $15 a 100 balls...

it's true cold balls result in barrel breaks, although tossing the odd reball in will hurt lol.
Hey Red what teams and division you play?
I played with the Toronto Shottas and Eastie Boys about 8-10 years ago, played CXBL, NWTS, an gun for hire at local in house tourneys.
Gone are the good old days of Skyball huh?
What you shoot?
Got rid of all me speedball guns and just rocking an old mech side feed cocker now.
Love the mechs :).

The only way you can bring your own paint is BYOP days at pb fields. This usually only happen at speedball fields but I know Paintball Nation has it too. It usually can only be yellow or white fill. To be honest they never usually check your paint unless they see off-colour paint marking the bunkers.

Best option for those looking to rent/party is find a field with a BYOP day, rent your guns and buy a cheap case of paint $20-$40 and go nuts.

I never fully got into the sport hardcore. I was recruited by Alex Madina for Rockstar canada as a second line player for their team. I didnt really get into it that much. I couldnt. playing anywhere near pro consumes way to much time, effort and money. I mean you know, plaing 7 man teams you go through 5, 6 pods a game!....1000 rounds a round for those who arent familiar. Even though we were getting discounts its still a lot of money. Lets not even talk about time needed to be invested. And most of it during summer months...It was affecting my riding and i chose riding over speedball.

Depends on what line your playing? Back will easily go thru 1000-2000 in a game, front and snake players not so much.
But yea it consumes time, as for $$ I havnt payed to play in 15 years lol.
Sponsors took care of paint and travel expenses, most of my gat's & equipment was won at tourney's ;).
Now I just play for fun and take my son out to shoot noobs :).
Too old for competitive playing, it's a young mans sport.
AjaxGuy still waiting on a call back.

I still remember the case of $80 paint that smelled like apples in case the person you hit tried to wipe it off :)

Sgt Splatters on Wednesdays have BYOP - (bring your own paint) - they sell cases approx $30.00 for 2000 balls.

During the summers, i try to head out to a bush game. Those are a blast. But for the odd game once a month or so, i head to Splatters on Wednedays - decent indoor field too.

You could try to arrange your game there. Its definitely not a speed ball setup. More of scenario play.

On another note. What paintball store in the gta has the best selection of markers. I need a new one

The cold thing intrigues me. Played outdoors early March a few years back using the field's PB's. I was crouch approaching to the bunker and literally took one off the inner thigh about 2 inches shy of the "Boys" and it didn't break. As I figured the guy had the line I threw up the arms and was like "I'm out".

Would this have been due to cold or just a bad ball?

Possibly both.
Low quality or white box paintballs that they sell to renters has a thicker shell and is harder to break.
There built like this because 1 it's cheaper and 2 it's more durable in cheap rental guns that see lots of abuse and can be shot in many size barrels.
When I used to play tournaments we use to gauge the size of the paint we were using and use the appropriate sizes barrel accordingly down to a 10th ;).
Hi grade paint is so brittle that incorrect ball to barrel size would result in breaks in the breach. And firing in access of 20bps its easy to break paint.
Also proper size match increases accuracy 90%, and paint that breaks on targets and dosnt bounce wins games.

Thanks booya. Honestly always wondered. If I wasn't afraid my kids would be stupid from another round...I would have kept going. lol

Does Splatter's still have that stupid "no arc" policy? I nailed a guy from across the play field and got shot by a ref for "arcing" my shot.

I've never heard of that rule lol.
Do you remember the refs name or what he looked like? I used to reff there on weekends to help out.
I would have lite him up if he shot me for that hahaha.
Man that would have been a great shot IMO.

My floor mate in Uni used to ref up at 'saga said the same thing! lol Dude was running in between building and nailed him right in the ***....dude went down like a sack of flour.

I always thought that was ********.

So my son is gonna have his birthday party at the paintball place by our house, but i was wondering if you can bring in your own paintballs for stuff like this? There gonna be microballs, but I know these kids are gonna be going through them like mad so if I have to pay the places prices for balls, I will be broke! lol

Paintball is my winter activity. (Fills in the time till riding season) I play outdoor and still shoot regular paint. The frozen paintball thing is BS.

As others have mentioned, this is how they make their money. Rentals and admission makes up a small portion of their profit. Most places won't let you bring your own balls. If they're using regular paintballs than do what I use to do when I was younger and an avid paintballer.

Find out what color the paint is they're using for the day. Have someone go to walmart and purchase cases of the same color. Mix the store bought balls with the "legit" paint. You can't just buy ALL your paint from outside, it's too obvious. It's like sneaking food into a movie on a burger king tray, someone will notice
