PA or Ottawa ??? This weekend

Both look warm and it's the summer solstice so longest day of the year - great for long leisurely riding days.
Thinking of leaving noonish get to Coudersport or else somewhere maybe north and east of North Bay then overnight there. Couple days riding.
My shoulder is still sore so mostly touring speeds and slab in the boring bits to get somewhere. I got 300 lazy Ks in today - hwy 52 is nice way miss Hamilton coming north. So that means I'm okay to get to PA. Ottawa a bit more distance.
Fonthill over to Chippewa Creek and just meandered north for a couple hours. Spring in Ontario farm country - very little traffic

Anyone else heading somewhere? Can split up when we get there. Someone with a Scala even better - chit chat makes the time go by.
Fair warning I'll be in photo mode so may be some stops but as I mentioned no problem sticking to the same agenda. Anyone who's not been to 144 will likely want to make a few runs. I'm gonna try and find some other little gems in the general area.
Hey 12 hour riding days and a decent forecast :D

I think im heading down to alleagany and area sat. Macdoc any suggestions on must do roads. going for just the day. thx

Might join you if you are willing - as looks like I can't escape as planned Friday - got too busy and Ottawa might be a tad too far for my shoulder to tolerate. 4 hours to PA sounds much better but I'd be leaving very early but then you have to as well for a day trip. You might be slabbing faster than I'm interested in ( 110-120 keeps the gas mileage reasonable and I can still hear the tunes. )

are for sure runs and the WYkoff Run as well down near Renovo

This actually looks like a good loop

List here I might trawl through

Don't depend on cell coverage in the area. ForeverMap is your friend if you have an iPhone - offline maps and it works.

Did a 5 day tour of PA a few weeks ago and you can't beat the combination of great roads, nice scenery and cheap meals!
Did however had to do a quick stop to avoid 3 black bears crossing the road

Well I'm up - fed and coffeed - still undecided

Kid wants to do PA next weekend so that maybe leaves that out for this weekend.

Riding in 32 degrees with an extreme humidex is a bit off. TStorms tomorrow in PA but they can be avoided. If I hit Lewiston I might be able to score a data sim for the iPhone for next weekend- Finger Lakes are an easy jaunt but it's the weekend and a warm one so gonna be jammed.

North there are showers forecast tho nothing serious - still wet and 30 degrees has less appeal.

Hammock and a book looks tempting sigh :D

There is very little in Ottawa worth riding compared to PA (which in my opinion is still only a doormat to WV or Ohio River Valley riding...).

It should be a no-brainer...

North of and East of it's nice but I agree not comparable.
Glad I did not head to Ottawa

PA riders on the other hand got a sweet day and not as hot as predicted.

i ended up going to Pa. No traffic there and back. left 7:30 and was home 7:30. Less humidity in the mountains but stopped for fuel in st. mary's and started getting sweat down the back. Not too many riders or then again the area can absord alot of guys and you wouldn't know it.
The roads were great. No real dirt or construction. Had todo two hard stops for 2 bambis 1 porcupine and some girls in a car. Not one state trooper was seen the whole time. 4 opp canadian side. mmmmmmmmmm bacon

Good for you - looked ideal - gave my shoulder a rest for next weekend.

Out roaming very early. Lots of critters - possum, deer etc.

Skittish

early feed

bit of road kill for some lunch later

and a not shy horse.....brandishing some weapon there :D

and it's only 8 am - get out there :D

Few riders at the Ice House waiting on breakfast.

Hah long loop up towards Minto including some slab and still squeaked out 300 km on a tank thanks to a nice tail wind coming back to the Forks. Pretty damn empty out there past Arthur. Of course a couple of quasi- homicidal drivers not used to mcycles I guess.
Can't relax anywhere damn....sucker in a 51 Ford decided he needed my lane coming at me with that stupid torpedo front end....wtf - empty highway....figure he must target fixed or something.

Hot day too - T storm would be welcome ...squids abound at the Forks - almost lost the jacket myself but it's cool enough riding with it open.

Hey MacDoc, did you hear or see anything in regards to sound checks at Belfountain?

Nope but I got there late in the day and was snoozing inside. There were a few machines that could have used a quieting.
Loud bikes are not something I support at all.... they are bad for the riding community in my view.
I recall being very impressed with the early Goldwings and how quiet they are. Something I like on the Burgman as well that it's a quiet bike.
