Ouch

Watching that, makes me think I should suck it up and do a SOAR race. :)

You probably would have gone airborne if you went straight. Btw... all the above comes with experience. With enough practice sessions and being passed by Aubrey and Scott, you'll get used to a random motorcycle appearing out of nowhere lol

Get more seat time, notice who shows up beside you but don't focus on them, stay on your line.
The bike on the right didn't startled me, Many times i have been passed in tighter situations, I just had a braking point picked to pass the guy on the left and when I saw the guy on the right I changed it so he didn't take the position over me and basically over did it, as simple as that.

I would have been fine going straight, there was a small patch of grass and then some more road behind that - I had shaved enough speed to keep it up straight (gigiti) , not enough to turn

I think anyways, at this point I am glad I tried to make it even after the crash - Learned a lesson that helped me next day on the race

Entering as a rookie?

Novice and/or AM. I'll race both just because... more track time. 600 and 1000 (on a 600). I'm not able to commit to a series so I care less about points or winning, just the challenge.

My Qualifying race this past Saturday

Laugh and entertain yourselves

Oh don't worry, we will. Becasue we may be next!!

And where is TAFB when you need him? You need some braking advice from him.

I still wonder If I would have crashed with an auto Blipper??? I will never know!

Wouldn't have crashed if you had that extra 36cc.;)
I don't have the extra 36 cc's but I have an extra R at the end ;)

I don't think my crash was due to not going fast enough, I think it was about not quitting while I was ahead lol

SOAR goes

Rookie
Novice
Expert

If you've done more than 6 race weekends you are ineligible for Rookie.

Qualify finish determines Sunday grid. Round 1 qualifier is determines by entry date. We had almost 50 entries at the shows some classes were into row 5 in January. After Round 1 points are used to set the grid first then entry time.
Shaman we use the US system there is no AM or Pro its Novice and Expert. If you are AM with RACE you are Nov with us if Pro then you are Expert with us. Rookie is for riders that are new with less than six weekends racing total.
Yellowduck you can do trackdays forever and never be "more" ready to race. Racing is different it just is. Your learning curve will climb far sharper you get faster riding with faster people. I will even go so far to say that too much trackdays will actually hurt you as you get to many bad habits that you get to overcome when racing. I have seen you ride and you would be fine. If your worried about crashing then just dont race, and for that matter dont do trackdays either, its part of learning. Granted a sucky part but still a part. Racing isnt for everyone but if you have the drive for it then just do it. Talk to people who race many started not so long ago where you are and not many will tell you they regret it.

Yes Ken I've heard your rant before about racing good, trackdays bad LOL.

I don't doubt anything you say but on the other hand I am currently lapping a good 10 - 12 s off what a decent rider could do on a bike like mine. I need to at least be in the same universe with lap times before I show up at a race to be a pylon. Not sure why that is important to me but it is somehow.

I'm going to do Racer 5 Stage 4 this year and then we will see where we are.

What was the lesson??

.
Don't be so aggressive from the get go

I should have perhaps stayed in second and wait to make my pass next corner.

I know the next day I went about it more sensibly only passing when I didn't put the entire race at risk and made it from 18 to 8, it doesn't sound like much, but If I hadn't blow my qualifier race and started at a decent spot on Sunday, I think I had the pace to be with the top 3 guys
