OPP Hiding Spots

You're a chick, you're not going to pay the same price as a male rider. Peel cops have a "code" for hot chick pulled over. They all come have a look, and she goes on her merry way ticket free. Must be great to be a woman...sometimes.

Sorry but I believe if you speed and get caught... your own damn fault. And yes I speed too. But I fully accept responsibility when I get pulled over.

Yesterday during afternoon rush hour they were on the Allan North bound left shoulder in between Eglinton and York Mills.

You mean Eglinton and Yorkdale? They're always there around the Lawrence Ave. underpass. They also sit just North of there on Allan Rd. after the 401 entrances. Usually the copper is on 2 wheels so be careful :)

Yup I couldn't remember if it was south of Lawrence or north. It was a really crappy spot, wouldn't be surprised if they cause a collision there from people slamming on their breaks.

Still ridiculously rare though. How many cops are there in the nation and how many traffic stops are there every year?

How rare is still a question though. One 'respected officer', who had provided sound-bites for media, appears to have falsified evidence with respect to traffic stops. Most notably, stops involving HTA 172 charges. How many more are there? It's certainly not most, nor even many, but it's a question I want to have answered.

This of course, is the real issue with HTA172. The police officer becomes judge and jusry and doles out punishment on the spot. I believe the vast majority of officers will try to be fair and honest but soem aren't. There is no third party oversight and no way for the driver/rider to tell their side of the story. Pre-HTA 172 police still had the ability to suspend licenses and impount vehicles, but had to present the evidence in front of a JP and the driver was able to do the same. What efectively has happened is that the legal system, with its checks and balances, has been bypassed with severe consequences to those charged with the offense.

It simply is a bad law and has no legitimate justification.

Not OPP but speed traps in general.
Came across this site recently and I thought it could help a lot of people out.
Pretty damn accurate too, check it out.

Search an area that you're familiar with...

Wow, lots of good info! I looked up Whitby, could easily confirm the few spots listed where the popo like to run radar near my work!

Nice link 2live!

There's also a number of apps for smart phones that aggregate user-submitted speed traps. One such app that I've used on the iphone is "Trapster". One cool feature about this app is that it audibly notifies you if you're approaching a reported trap. Think I'll start using this more when my intercom arrives.

I've been seeing TPS camping here lately. They usually snag people coming SB on the Bayview Extension, and they've always got someone everytime I ride through there. So I suggest you slow it down after the ramps. It used to be an 80 zone but now it's a 60.

I seen the craziest thing on Sunday... Well crazy to me as i didnt think OPP did radar this way. So anyways, I was driving eastbound on the 401 in the express lanes, and just after nielson in the collectors parked against the fast lane barrier, with himself wedged in between the barrier and his cruiser he was standing on the shoulder pointing the radar gun at the express traffic.
Now where he was parked he was right before the merge onto the express, so he could easily hop in and chase down the offending vehicle.

has anyone ever seen this tactic? I was in my car doing 125 and scared the S*** outta me! lol

but what about the radar detector detectors?

Hmm, how about buying Radar detector?

Ive done my research on this, you're gonna need deflectors and detectors and know how to mount stuff to your helmet. The motorcycle specific detectors are ****..you need the car ones.

I had a radar detector on my CBR 929, saved me TONS of times!

The only radar you can use right now that's 100% undetectable and "bike friendly" is this one: https://www.beltronics.com/store/stir-plus.html

Beware of other radar detectors that say they are "VG2" invisible or "undetectable". What they do, is when they detect a VG2 radar detector detector they go into sleep mode (shut off) so that the radar detector detector can't see it. But, most/all cops around here are using the Spectre III radar detector detector so being "VG2" invisible isn't good enough.

That Bell unit I linked above is 100% undetectable by any current cop detector, even from 1ft away :D
