Operation Facebook

I do think it's funny that we've come so far to eliminate advertising from movies, music, and television, only to freely give a whole lot of personal information to people who's sole purpose is to target us for more advertising.

What's even more funny is that no one will pay for any content or services on the internet, even though they claim they can't live without it, and therefore the only thing that has any real value is the very advertising that everyone hates.

It's a crazy mixed up world.

Ads are everywhere, even where you think they are not.
I use a pretty good adblocker on my browser that I see the space where a fb ad would be, but it's all whitespace.
One time I landed on a website that detected my adblocker and it refused to show me its content with a big bold message that said "using adblockers is like stealing!"

I laughed and went to the next website in my search results instead.

There are no lies or false information provided in any type of advertising.

Everything you are encouraged to purchase or do is in your best interest.

You would be surprised to know how much advertising is in movies and tv, with out having commercials

How could I be surprised? Most feature films, music and sporting events ARE advertising, more than anything else. They barely try to hide it.

That's my point. People say they don't like commercials, so they get HBO, Tivo's, podcasts, etc., and yet they have no problem letting advertisers into so many aspects of their life. It's as though they're ok with commercials, as long as we don't call them that.

They'll have no problem spending money on crappy music, clothes, and movies that are chock full of advertising, but they'd never spend money on valuable content, because "it should be free". That is, paid for by advertisers. When the NY Times started charging for subscriptions to their website, everyone thought that was a stupid idea. Who would pay for something like that? But people will pay for Katy Perry and The Transformers, or to walk around with logos on their clothes.

Like I said, it's a crazy mixed up world.
