Ontario MTO (Drive Test) Road Test Success Rates

Hate to say it, but the driver test is so absurdly subjective, the best bet is to go to a location where you are most likely to encounter someone with the same ethnic background as you. They will say there is no quota of fails, but really, if you are under pressure to make a quota, you know who you are going to shaft.

I dunno. I did my automobile road test in "Tranna" in mph.
The highway portion was on the DVP, back when they still had the suicide ramps.
One person failed when she backed into a car during the parallel parking.

For the motorcycle test, it was in Rexdale and the highway portion was on the 427.
I don't see what people's problem is with driving in the Big Smoke.

GTA pass rates are crap because you've got cars and pedestrians all over the place, so more stress on the test-taker and also more ways you can fail... An idiot runs out in front of your car, you fail because "you didn't anticipate him sooner".. They ask you to do a right turn, they can fail you because you cut it too close or waited too long.. You go to the sticks and there are fewer situations where they can fail you. It was a lot easier to pass my 30min G2 exit in Sudbury (I was living there) than my 15min G1 exit at Vic Park/Lawrence. Also, in the sticks they don't get on the major highways congested as F***.

... Because there is so little traffic and the closest thing to a highway is the 80 km/hr road leading into and out of town. Funny thing was as we were taking our turn with the pylons a lady and tester got into her test car and she drove right over all of our pylons and just kept going and when she came back our tester said very sarcastically how did you do? Oh great I passed, and he just shook his head.

Ok...THIS scares the crap outta me. Though sadly, it doesn't actually surprise me :sad3:

Really should limit to people taking the tests at MTO locations closest to their home address. Someone living in downtown Toronto taking a test at remote locations is crazy. People should pass or fail in an environment where they will be doing most of their driving.

Would be nice if they had the same case load per examiner as the ones in the sticks. That's the overriding reason why many people go out of town to do their road tests. If that wasn't bad enough if you went to a GTA drive test location, you'd have to wait for hours just for someone to say "hello" to you. It was living hell when I took my wife out so she can write her G1.

This is just a reiteration of my previous post: The difference in pass rates isn't due to people in the sticks driving better (other than possibly better lane discipline) - it's because you face fewer incidents that could disqualify you when there are no cars around as opposed to the most congested city in North America.
