Ontario GTA photo tag

Also, I have to request to edit the rules in the 1st page, reflecting this UNWRITTEN RULE.

Did you have a chance to read IFXe's clarification on the newly posted photos? He linked it a few comments before.

<snip>

Hi folks,
just thought I'd clarify Rule#6 for everyone.

6). No old photos, must be current.

When 'tagging' a location, 'current' means the photo was taken (not just edited or Photo-shopped) after the time the challenge 'go-to' spot is posted. Simple.

eg. because of this rule, my photo in post#664 taken in 2010 would NOT be a valid tag photo for the location set in post#643

Not as simple,

When setting up a 'go-to' tag spot for others to pursue, 'current' means the photo you post was taken within approx. the last 3 months.
As a courtesy to others, ensure that the photo is indeed 'current',
eg. the business you took a photo of and posted hasn't relocated or closed up shop
eg. the farmfield you took a photo of and posted isn't now a sub-division construction zone.

Hope this helps and encourages you to snap photos of 'interesting' spots in your travels that can be shared later without necessarily sprinting all over GTA to get the shot after you've gotten a tag.

Well, then, I guess im off to take a handfull of pictures of my bike everywhere so I can take part in these new rules.

Let's have a look at the CLARIFICATION before we get our panties in a knot, shall we? His game, his rules. ->

I also love how "CURRENT" is defined by 3months.

So, I guess having an archive of photo's for this game is key to saving time, and ease of playing.

A.K. Beat me by a minute.

well played sir, well played. :D

Since my riding is somewhat limited nowdays, I need to get my adrenalin rush from somewhere else. Like behind the keyboard... Typing away like a maniac. :)

I did not know that! Live and learn...

It's the assumption I'm making as he has put in the effort to keep track of everything and provide scoreboards, maps, photo contest....

He might not have started it, but keeps it all 'official' like :)

why do I get the feeling that the next tag location is going to be the rub and tug next door?

Thanks for the reminder! Photo contest page has been updated with the recent submission from iav8.

With respect to what is current and such....the concept was to take the new tag shot after the old tag shot, you know, get people out riding and having fun....seemed simple at the time...but now that it's official and like......I say motorcycle jousting to resolve any issues or disagreements....

real 'game changer' .... damn new crop of young taggers with their fancy schmancy mobile tag n'-post-on-the-fly smartphone apps! :)

My $.02, the chronology of the pictures isn't that relevant. A picture from an era when the landscape has changed is obviously a problem, but a photo that was taken recently - no big deal. It's not like you enter into an internet dating chat with a person and they give you a photo many years and several pounds different.

If the player chooses to stop for a new tag photo on the way out to the old location, why is that a problem? Is it because the sun is still up in the new tag photo and it is dark in the old tag photo? So what if the photo was taken a week ago, or two, or three? The player still rode there.

If the real issue here is getting scooped on the tag then I agree - that sucks, but it would have happened either way.

One could argue that the vague tag photos are a problem but for the most part the players here seem to enjoy the challenge in finding the spot. Personally I find this slows the game down and only benefits those who have first hand knowledge of an area.

The mobile device thing kills me, I can't figure out how to post my images from my mobile. I go out every time thinking I'm getting scooped because I can't upload from my mobile. Oh well, I guess there are advantages/disadvantages like there are in every game.

Phew, my fingers are sore...sorry for the long post.

Vague tag photos? Did you check the Kitchener-Waterloo tag game? Those guys are hard core! Photos taken in front of a bush or half a bridge is showing in front of a bunch of shrubs... It does slow the game down and I too prefer the healthy pace of the GTA tag game.

Thanks to C-Note's advises I joined the tag-and-post-on-the-fly group this season. It is much easier that I don't have to rush home to post a tag. It comes with a price tag, but hell, I don't smoke, I don't drink, need something to waste my money on...

How do you do the tag and post on the fly? Kinda what turned me off this game is that I have to rush home if I wanna post a pic.
