Wish that would happen to my CRT so I could justify a new LCD.
Don't keep it.
1). Rear projection TVs have an awesome "feature" - over time the seals around the three CRTs seize, and the cooling fluid starts leaking out of them. That cooling fluid really nicely rusts the boards and sometimes shorts stuff. Considering that the PCBs are sitting right at the bottom of those little picture tubes, the result is "fun" to see.
2). It's really heavy.

I fixed mine replacing a few caps on the board in the tv $4.50 in caps 30 cents in solder....after chasing down the offending circuits. There is a guy in Brampton that can fix it fairly cheap and does a great job, just make sure you get a direct price from him though. PM me for his contact info.
