RCA TC, circa 1998
model # p50830bl
service # is p50830blg1
chassis is ptk195bl

It's not like the standard convergence issues I've read about because there's no picture at all.

I tried unplugging and letting it sit over night, no change, also because i don't use the tv frequently I tried blowing out all the dust with a shop vac.

Found a site with some parts but dunno which part to get that would fix it.

If it's cheap to fix I would considering fixing it otherwise it would be a shame to have to toss a tv that is in nice condition.

with nothing plugged into the back of the tv I should be getting a no signal message, not this.

found if i change channels i'll get snow along with those 3 lines.

If you need a TV Lisa I'll have a Sony 27" for free.

Works fine, only issue is it's currently in the basement and weighs the same as a Harley.

Might as well toss it and get LCD. Save power and get better pic quality

Good thing about CRT's is that they are usually pretty cheap to fix and the repair guys are probably dying for the work in our disposable electronics age. Check your local listings.

15 hundy to Montreal? What do you have against the place?

Cause she's wanted in la belle province!! (did hear that coppers? you'll never take her alive!)

Most LCD's actually use more power than CRT Tv's
prove it...

Show me a 37" modern LCD that uses more power then a 32" CRT

32" FD Trinitron WEGA TV = 175W
37" Vizio E371VA = 79W
37" Vizio LED M370NV = 57W

.

Back in the dark ages of TV land my wife worked for one of the TV manufacturers and we got to know the service manager pretty well. Our TV was acting up and I blew the dust out of it. The service manager did a face palm when I told him. Apparently that was a no-no.

Lots of free TVs on Craigslist in the free section.

Dark side of the moon?
I prefer the LP.

Don't keep it.
1). Rear projection TVs have an awesome "feature" - over time the seals around the three CRTs seize, and the cooling fluid starts leaking out of them. That cooling fluid really nicely rusts the boards and sometimes shorts stuff. Considering that the PCBs are sitting right at the bottom of those little picture tubes, the result is "fun" to see.
2). It's really heavy.
