Oil Change dilemma?

So I want to change my oil on my Honda Shadow vlx 600. It hasn't been started since the end of December. My dilemma is, do I just drain the oil and remove filter and let it alone overnight to fully drain , or start it up and ride to heat things up and then drain? Oil is still not bad only has 2500 miles on oil in it so I'm not worried either way, I just don't want to miss a opportunity for a extra clean oil change. But with the price of oil I don't want to do it twice. I'm leaning towards run it so it is hot and change it then.
 
Start it and let it warm up before draining the oil.

That being said, if you’ve only done 2500km since the last oil change I wouldn’t bother doing it at all. Just ride until the next oil change interval.

No its 2500 miles, so it could go a little longer, I think 3 or 4000 miles .
But I will warm it up for sure now.
 
OP, if the bike has only been sitting since Dec. start it up and RIDE it until you hit the normal oil change period. the oil hasn't "gone bad" in 3 months...lol
