Perhaps its me, but anybody else this year notice an increase in the deer population this year?

I've had 2 incidents in the cage and one on the bike. Talk about heart stopping moments and panic braking!

With the bike, it appears the exhaust scared it off as it turned at the last moment as I was approaching.

Watch out for those blind corners folks!
 
instead of jammin the brakes on......
change what the animal is looking at....flick....HIGH beam....LOW beam...HIGH....low
they'll be gone before you you know it ....and no reason to stop
 
I'm finding more on the road this year than last. Rabbits too, what's with that? I'm seeing them in the middle of the day too. They are extremely unpredictable and are just as likely to jump into you as you ride buy as they are to take off into the woods. I've been very close more than once in the last year or so when they changed direction completely at the last second and jumped out in front of me when I thought they were gonna head off into the woods.

And isn't flicking your lights just going to get them to stare at you? You have heard the expression "looking like a deer in the headlights"?
 
The news mentioned that a Ontario couple on a trike hit a bear in upstate NY today..
 
I've noticed an increase in animal population in general, especially on the roads. One trip I almost ran over 2 turtles, a deer, and a bird flew into the side of my car.
 
was out in muskoka with a budy a few weeks ago.. crossed 12 deer in one ride.

Deer whistles are a joke, especially the 2$ ones people buy at Walmart.

I do believe that if you hit a deer (with any vehicle) and it dies on impact, that deer (and its tender meaty insides) is all yours to bring home and turn into awesome hamburgers.
Make for great BBQ's and you have a great story to share.
I suggest only telling the story AFTER people have eaten dinner since some people can't fathom the idea of eating meat from animals other than the common ones.
