A male motorcyclist is in hospital in critical condition after a two-vehicle collision in Oshawa.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Simcoe Street North and Beatrice Street for reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and a van.
Sad, another innocent young rider lost to a careless driver.
Under the Highway Traffic Act, careless driving is described as driving "without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the highway." A conviction could come with a fine of between $2,000 and $50,000, six demerit points and a licence suspension of up to five years. It could also call for as many as two years in jail.
I wonder how many careless drivers face this consequence?
Heart felt condolences to the young man's family. To the rider -- RIP.
"
OSHAWA — Police have identified the man who died in a motorcycle crash in Oshawa on Saturday.
Justin Jones, 24, of Oshawa was seriously injured in the crash and pronounced dead in hospital.
Emergency crews were called to Simcoe Street North near Beatrice Street East at about 12:40 p.m. on Oct. 12.
Police say a red Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Jones was travelling south on Simcoe Street when it collided with a silver Dodge Caravan that was exiting a plaza."
This one hits home a little. That exact spot is only about 1KM from where I was involved in my first (and thankfully, so far, last) MC wreck in 1994 - Simcoe and Switzer.
I still carry the scars. But I limped away from it.
