now that the postal strike is over...

Huge +1 to that. Personally it didn't affect me much....but I can see how it affects businesses and people who rely on cheques in the mail.

I will eventually be in a union if I get the job I want and it totally bugs me what the union can do to people who don't agree.

Its not like CP said no completely to their demands for more, from what I have read they offered less but not nothing....Thats trying to meet them half way...

This is their counter offer to the demands

The union is prepared to shut down Canada’s postal system even though the company has proposed a deal that gives employees better pay and benefits than they currently enjoy. The latest counter offer from the union does nothing to address the significant challenges facing the company.
* Annual wage increases leading to a top rate of $26 per hour for both new and existing employees;
* A defined benefit pension plan for both new and existing employees despite a $3.2-billion solvency deficit;
* Up to seven weeks vacation;
* Job security for both new and existing employees.

SOUNDS PRETTY ****ING GOOD TO ME! For driving a little truck and carrying mail and packages up peoples lawns....

Funny thing is I was expecting the workers to be mad to be forced back to work and not get what the union was demanding, but the guy this morning was happy he was joking around and said "did you miss me".....Didnt seem like it was too important to him, seemed like he was fine doing the job for what he already gets...

My friend works for CP, hes happy to be back at work and at the end of the day they still got a raise, just not as much as they wanted, they can blame their Union for that.

I ordered my fairings this morning. 8-11 business days!! Can't wait!!

Isn't it amazing that these union leaders and people who are actively part of them (because there are people who are part of them by no choice) can still get up in the morning with no ill feeling, considering what they considered not acceptable for their members? Disgusting at best. Don't like the pay and conditions, just leave .... everybody has this choice, it's almost free world out there ... LOL

If a postie figures his/her education and job skills deserve better wages and perks they are free to go into the private sector. The govie unions won't be happy until we're as broke as Greece.
