Five pin bowling, Tee shirts without labeling,
Maurice Richard made about $14,000 a year while the average income was about $3,000

Nice find.
Film from the 50's, but I still remember players in the late 60's working summer jobs. Some use to work as car salesmen, just to bring in customers.
Most did not make enough with just their hockey wages. I remember one Leaf, can't remember his name, use to live down the road from my uncle, a GM line worker.
As far as Maurice, Richard's salary for the 1959-60 50-game season was $25,000. Today's equivalent is $264,535.

If you want a well created blast from the past but in gorgeous detail try on Ripley on Netflix.
Set in the early 60s in Italy

Came across this the other day
The ads are wince making...
I was in uni when Woodstock occurred and could have gone but who knew what would happen 150 km away from St Catharines....the second biggest city in New York State grew overnight to 500,000.
BOOMER time. :D

Sounds like the CFL today. I knew a Stampeder and he had to have a day job. He wasn't a QB.

Lacrosse players, as well.

Maurice making 25k in 50s Montreal meant he could have bought 10 houses that yr. That was a lot of dough in ‘55 . Parents friend Enio Sclizizi played for the BlackHawks in the 50s , sold insurance as a paying job. My friend Dave played CFL for Sask then Ottawa , 4 seasons then managed a grocery store . Nobody made the silly money in sport today .
