Thats a savings of ....................................... $604 a year.

THe 400cc bike is $2400 cheaper in 4 years.

Not bad for the rider with a budget and a head on their shoulders.

BTW. With my age 30+ cost was something like 600 & 714 respectively per year.

$1200 cheaper than the 650R is a fair amount of savings in motorcycle terms...besides, big saving in insurance is where this bikes stands out.

I don't understand why people would expect this to cost less than the 650? Same # of parts, same amount of work = same cost to produce.

Same reason a Harley 883 Sportster costs $2500 less than a 1200 when the only difference is a 3" Cylinder bore on the 883 and a 3.5" ore on the 1200.
Since they use less material on the 1200 shouldn't it cost less ?

Perceived value, Marketing and what they think the market will bear.

Insurance is the only difference for some people, I did a online quote with TD, The 400 was only $62 less a year.

i dont mean to be a downer, but is that not kind of squidish of you?... i am new to the lifestyle and the forum and it even kind of seems dumb to me.. dont get me wrong i would love to rip around in only a t-shirt on in the downtown streets of toronto and on the highway, but ive done that in dominican on a 175cc dirtbike and i realized how dumb it was then, i cant imagine what it would be like here.

I just ripped it last night, 2up, 175 on the highway, wearing t-shirt and my bathingsuit shorts. When I arrived at our destination I was the first one in the hottub =)

Weather last night was amazing. If it's 16 degrees or warmer at night, it's t-shirt and shorts for me! =)
