Ninja 300 2013 vs Ninja 300 2014

Does anyone know the difference between the two other than the fact that the 2014 model costs $100 more?

Using Kawasaki's side-by-side model comparison (http://www.kawasaki.ca/products/compare-models), it seems that all the specs provided by Kawasaki is the exact same.

Any insight on this?

The same difference between the 2010 ninja 250 and the 2012 ninja 250

Same ****, different colours...

Same ****, different color - just white. Lol

Was hoping for at least some small difference/improvement =/

The 2013 models had some issues with the side fairing popping out slightly causing an unsightly gap. Kawasaki eventually released new part numbers for the fairings which seems to have fixed the issue. Those new fairings are on all the 2014s.

true, ive seen this happen on a friends. dont know about them fixing it though, i cant remember if he ever got a replacement part.

yeah, they most likely just fixed a few of the small issues, and kept everything else the same.

If its only a $100 difference i would get the 2014 without a doubt. You can probably make up that additional $100 when you decide to sell it since on paper its a year "newer"

Also gotta point out that the 2013 is on clearance with another $300 off from Kawasaki - therefore its really $400 + the fact that haggling with the dealer is much harder (more like impossible) for a brand new bike that just came out.

Something for me to contemplate I guess... Never knew the fairings popped out for the 2013 though O_O

I beleive there was also an issue with the ECU causing the bike to stall while driving or something like that, Id assume that was fixed as well. Heard there were some issues with the exhaust rusting slightly too but the exhausts look the same so I don't think that was fixed. Basically for the extra 100 bucks you get different colours, a fixed ecu and a fairing fix -- for that money you get less hassle. I'd say it was worth it. If I didn't buy a ninja 400 I would have bought the 14 Ninja 300s seeing as it was worth it.

my friends popped out when he was pulling out of his garage. not exactly riding hard, i dont think it was even warmed up yet.

its because of the little things like this that make it better to hold off on buying something that's a brand new model year

It's already as expensive as it is. I'd save the $400 + tax, but then I wouldn't buy a brand new Ninja 300 for $5399 + tax/fees in the first place.

I'd look into used bikes whether 300 or 600 (non-ss if your worried for insurance dif, which is next to nothing compared to 300), and (def) get a better overall package for a lot less.

^ hard to find people selling their used 300s seeing as its the first year its been out. Most of them that I've seen have an asking price of over the MSRP which I find pretty funny. Only found a couple 300s that actually had decent prices and upgrades; maybe 3 or 4 of them over the course of this riding season lol.

lowest quote for 2013 ninja 300 - $1704/yr
lowest quote for a 2006 sv650 - approx $2100 with TD MM (which I dont qualify for) other than that, the lowest was $2800/yr

Post 2006 sv650 used is approx $4500+ with 20k kms on the bike
2013 ninja 300 used is approx $5000
2013 ninja 300 new is approx $6200 OTD

so for the sv650 I'd be paying about $1100 per year more than the ninja 300 in insurance.
