You can definately learn to ride on a larger bike but someone who starts off on a 600 + ss and someone who starts off on a 250 develop different habbits. Riders starting off on larger bikes generally ride at lower revs and square off corners whereas someone learning to ride on a smaller bike generally preferrs higher rpms and carry more speed in turns. Not saying any one style is better but you do tend to develop different habits depending on what you start off on.
pretty much on an equal bike with equal experience the smaller CC rider is better than the guy who starts off on the bigger CC's. Small CC guys use their bike to their full potential whereas the bigger guys just put around under 10k rpm thinking their badass for being on a SS...
I also ride a 250r and had the exact same reaction when I rode the 08 1000RR on a demo ride...
HOLY ****!! when it popped a wheelie in first gear when all I was doing was trying to catch up to the guy in front of me...
