They are ruining hockey with all the stupid suspensions. It's not the hitting that is the problem, it's the equipment. Don Cherry has been saying this for yrs. It's quickly becoming a boring game.

I definitely agree with you that there is no need for the amount of hard unforgiving plastic in the shoulder and elbow pads.
But, I still say there are alot of dirty hits but then again look at scott Stevens hits back in the day, He would come from the opposite end of the ice and lay you out and he hit harder then 99% of the NHl right now.
I can't imagine anything that could 'ruin' hockey. Outside of Canada that is of course. It's a dull, parochial sport based around rednecks drinking piss beer and watching other rednecks fight on ice.

I wouldn't call most of them dirty hits. A dirty hit is a deliberate attempt to injure, the problem is the speed of the game, it's so fast right now, most of the head shots can't be avoided on most occasions. The funny part is Brendan Shanahan wasn't the cleanest player when he played.
While not that 'passionate'
)), I also don't think much of hockey. Olympic/World Cup hockey is an exception. It's the only hockey I will watch. It's a different game from the NHL.

If you really hated it, you wouldn't of clicked this thread, I am sure the title was enough. I hate people that hate things but still read it. There are lots of other threads for you to read on here, now go read them. Un****ing believable.

I hate hockey, I hate it when people start talking about it as if they have any thing to do with the actual game or something, but I still clicked on this thread. I wanted to see what people were complaining about because I'm interested in other view points. Kind of like someone who hates religion, but still reads the bible so that they can know where people are coming from when they talk about fiction as if it was non-fiction. It's called learning about things you may not be interested in. Personally I enjoy having conversations about stuff I may not be interested in, because I may actually learn something new.... crazy concept eh?

Ya really smart. Why would you want to learn anything about a subject you hate, get real. Someone that hates religion, and still reads the bible, now that's fiction. I would understand if his post was credible, but it was stupid and insulting, and had nothing to do with wanting to learn, discuss ect., but hey he rides a motorcycle so he's cooooooool.

Oh and btw, I hate hockey too.
I hate religion. But, I read the bible on a 3.5 week road trip (motel room bibles) when I was in my youth. I found it dim, and confusing.
I like hockey & motorcycles though.
Head shot suspensions should be quadrupled, IMO. 2nd time offenders should lose their lucrative $8M / yr contrats too.
( BTW - I can't refer to myself or anyone else with the word that rhymes with lid, but starts with a "K" on this site anymore, without getting an infraction - that's why I used "youth". So you hate religion, but will read the bible. seems a little Hippocrate to me. Guess you don't hate it that much. Seems you have a lot in common with religion. I hate lots of things, and won't read, watch or do any of them. I agree that the penalty should be harsher for deliberate head shots, but 95% are not deliberate.
