Anyhow, joking aside, it's refreshing so far. Why the change from VB to XenForo, out of curiosity?

Fair argument, but what was the underlying desire to change from vb3?

Yeah, I'm an old curmudgeon when it comes to "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", LOL.

FWIW I'm not hating on XF, it's actually pretty slick IMHO (it reminds me somewhat of Discourse, but I like it's feel and operation better), but I will admit that I still find the vb3 experience the defacto forum experience. And to a lesser extent, phpBB.
 
The servers and php versions etc were moving on and there was no more support for VB3 or 4. So it was broke...;)

I was going to say, it looks like sigs are mucked up - I'm going to guess that XF doesn't use standard bbCode. Need to edit.
 
Ok, yeah, I see what you were getting at Lightcycle - there's nowhere to edit ones signature.

Paul, methinks a permission may be set wrong somewhere. ;)

Aha, ok...totally makes sense. I hadn't considered legacy PHP issues.

I totally should have, ironically - I just went through a small nightmare because of this exact thing recently. Long story short, been running a small phpBB for a buddy for about 6 or 8 years now. ISP deprecated the required PHP version for the version of phpBB we were running, so I just thumbed my nose at them, moved the forum to my own server at home, and kept running old version of PHP to keep things up and running. "Old" version of PHP eventually became "very ancient" version of PHP. Ancient version of PHP then became a target of published exploits, taking down forum in a hack attack about a month ago. Thankfully, I keep great backups, but the exploit was so bad that a script kiddie was knocking the site offline again in mere minutes after restoration.

So yeah, just like you did with GTAM, I had to bite the bullet and upgrade the forum software to something more modern, like it or not.

It all makes sense now. ;)
 
Yep, it’s there now. It wasn’t before. All good.
 
Argh, just found out that the new software doesn’t honor mobile browser requests for the full site, vs the mobile version. Nor does there appear to be an option anywhere to turn it off.

I hate mobile versions of sites.

Would that explain why I can't log in on Tapatalk? I reset my password, cleared all cookies/cache/data and reinstalled the app it still kept saying incorrect password. I can access on mobile browser but much prefer using Tapatalk.

Same thing here, I just downloaded the Gtam app for now. I figure I may as well test it out, if I like it I'll keep it and continue with tapatalk for other forums.
