New New New...New to EVERYTHING...LOL

Welcome! Curious to know what a '600 type a chick' is? You have speeding tickets out your *** so I assume it means you like to go fast? I guess you'll need a bike that easily goes 100 mph in 3rd gear then.

Surprised nobody else has questioned the "125 & 250 are too small for me" logic.
I think people may just be tired of everyone recommending gutless bikes to everyone else.

I just hope people make their own decisions according to their research and test and not by the opinions of a bunch of nannies residing in this board.

oh and welcome

Welcome...i'm a newbie as well. I'm new to the site, so not as bold as the seasoned members. But feel free to holla back at a brotha on 2 wheels (hey that would have been a better 'handle'). I need a couple more newbies in my network of riders as well so we can share some experiences and deals etc.
Safe riding.

Agreed on that 100% ZX600, as a new rider i went to friends, dealers, mechanics, i did tons of research ...everyone i talked to seemed to have a different view. Comfort level has a lot to do with this...but at the end, i wanted something i can learn on, fit my size and feel safe with. I went to RTI and rode the CBR125 and the class and staff criticized as i'm a muscular 5"10, 210lbs, but for me, i didnt wanna be the guy to fall or drop the bike and i felt safer as a first time on a bike. At the end i learned the skills safely and passed with a very good M2 exit score. Then tried out my friends Suzuki 500 with ease, so the transition to my 650 was a comfortable one. Cant wait to ride!!

Totally believe that people need to make their own decisions according to "research" and "testing". What made me laugh is that the original poster has already decided to be a '600' rider and that the 125 & 250 bikes are too small. Must be difficult to know how a 600 rides if she's never driven a bike before. If she has experience on different sized bikes then I'll STFU.

You know a lot more about motorcycling than me and nothing can compare to experience. I'm a newb and probably more cautious than most. I bought my first bike in September, a 250 Ninja and I'm proud of it. I didn't give in to peer pressure from my friend who was in my ear about how I'd outgrow it. Caving to the pressure would have been gutless. The fact that you call <600cc bikes gutless clearly implies that you don't want people making decisions according to research or testing. You've already made up their mind for them, 600+cc or bust.

Welcome! I am a new female rider and am in the 600+cc club too :) If you come across any good deals on womens gear let me know!

I did not made up their mind, I haven't even yet recommended a type of bike. I have also helped many friends on 250's and 500's to get comfortable and a bit more proficient while riding. My problem is with the fact that as soon as a new rider shows up, a parade of people show up and pressure them to get 250's or they will die and as soon as someone sais I am getting a 600 the high almighty put them down for their choice

I am glad you got what you felt comfortable with, if someone -right or wrong - feels comfortable with starting on a 600, who are you to say anything about it?

I call 250's gutless because they are, not to put anyone down

Wow, what have i caused....lol....But Ninjitsu...to comment on what you said...The first motorcycle I ever rode was a Ninja 250, my cousin's boyfriend let me test ride his...I am definitely not a pro, hence the new new new to everything topic and the reason for me to start the course....It is my preference to want to start with a bike that I feel I can handle and that I can keep for a very long time...I didn't start this discussion to have an argument with anyone on here...but for someone who claims to be new as well, u damn sure act like u know everything already...just like how u didn't listen to ur friends to get something other than a 250...I think I won't listen to you and start with a 125 or 250...thanks nonetheless and I value your opinion because you are entitled to it...

Hey...most definitely....I will be attending the Toronto Spring Motorcycle Show this month so i'm hoping to get everything I need there without breaking the bank....

It depends on the bike 600cc for some bikes is fine, its all about how they handle, what sort of power they actually make. A friend of mine has a Honda Shadow Aero 750 for his first bike, got it last year and wants something with more power now. Was perfect for him Power wise, the issue with more powerfull bikes like this is #1 they are allot heavier, harder to stop when they start to go over, etc. He still has an issue with how heavy it is.

I do suspect your probably going after a cruiser and not a sportbike. If you can handle a heavy bike I think a larger CC bike is fine, if I am reading between the lines correctly I think you may look a little out of place on a Ninja 125, or 250.

I know the Honda Shadow Aero was 900/year for insurance for a M2 rider after the course so its still quite reasonable. However the Harley Sportster Iron 883 was more than double that...at least when I checked. This does play a factor, at least it did for me. Thats why I have a Ninja 250.

I see what u r saying....I'm gonna buy the bike after completing my course successfully....so I will know what suits me and what is comfortable...I also will be in attendance at the Spring Motorcycle Show, so I will be more informed and well educated as to what I need and what works best for me...

wow...well said...like why is it a problem if I wanna start with a 600...like u said it is my choice...thanks

You will enjoy the show but will likely only walk away knowing more about beef jerky, leather vests, chaps and Shamwows then anything else...

I think what he is saying is that instead of replying to every post, you can click on the plus sign beside the "reply with quote" button for every post you want to reply to at the same time instead of having to make an individual post for every response

Once you have clicked on the + sign for everyone, then click the "reply with quote" on the last post you want to reply too
