New moto park ?

Thanks for posting this. Didn’t know about it but may have to bring the bike to work one day and check it out. If you go let us know how it looks.

It is indeed in the Markham Town Fairgrounds .
Today is the first day, fairly good turnout, maybe 50 riders.
They will be running morning to evening, all weather conditions, 7 days a week.
Not much to see - I got there just as they were taking a lunch break and watering the track.
Pay your money, sign the waiver and ride until you're dizzy.
Its not terribly technical, hence why its called endurocross I guess.
Kinda like a very lumpy TT course.
Here are a few terrible pics.

Went and checked this out. A bunch of young guys with lots of dreams, all the power to them. They have said this has been five years in the making of long nights and many, many weekends. What they have done is truly remarkable, I can go riding every day, all day and its only a 30 min drive (light traffic) from home. I am woods guy, but looking at this track it may be fun-once-in-while as it does not look very technical and the jumps I can just slowly ride over. After congratulation to the guys who built this place, I asked them if they are ready for the soccer mom's who are going to do everything possible to shut them down because of the noise. Granted there is a model aeroplane club across this street that been there for many years but they don't have the brapp-brapp of the dirt bike with an aftermarket exhaust. (Because the stock one are not loud enough). It is going to be interesting as the hours are 8am to 9pm. Look at TMP and Mosport - they are been there for decades and still have to fight the noise issue. With TMP having restrictions on the road course. Let's enjoy until it last and I hope it will last a long time as the guys who built this place, made it for us to enjoy. But when the locals are woken up or trying to go to sleep the battle will begin.

Their saving grace is precedent.
There have been flat track and supercross events run on the property in years past, as well as other noisy things like the Fair.
The NIMBYs can pound salt, its a good thing for the fairgrounds and for Markham in general.

Maybe doing something as simple as instituting a mandatory sound check would minimize the issue ?
It would certainly help. They might consider a "stock silencer only" policy, but that might not improve things with 4 stroke MX bikes not to mention the wailing and crying of the guys who spent money on an aftermarket one.

Ignoring the noise will just make it worse. It is always better to be proactive. As a minimum grab the noise protocol from somewhere like Bogey or Rumball centre for the deaf and implement that. It won't be great for their location, but at least it's something. Sadly, if they get to the point of needed a formal noise study and protocol, they will likely be restricted to electric bikes.

Rumball is actually an important model for them to look at. They had operated for a long time with infrequent events and wanted to scale up to allow more riders more often. There was a huge push back and a lot of money spent on lawyers and consultants. Even people the track thought would be on their side didn't always pan out. You can't scale something that much with impunity.

Burls creek is another one they should look at. Going from an occasional event to more frequent events lights a fire. In that case they had f you money, I doubt the Markham motocross team has that available (and they are fighting with Markham/markham residents, not Oro and oro residents).

Does this have jumps etc interested but it looks like a horse track from here

When I read endurocross I got pretty excited thinking logs, rocks, tires etc. From a couple short videos on FB and IG it looks like a flat MX track with a few small table tops. If I go, it’s to expect a turn track with a couple small jumps thrown in.

I’m not in as big of a hurry to check it out now but if I do I’ll get some more pics/vid and report back.

Looks like a good place that's in the GTA for riders to enjoy a day out and practice their skills. Driving out and back to the Ganaraska forest or up to Simcoe takes a lot of your day away from you.

And good on the guys that started this new venture! I've always had a soft spot for young entrepreneurs.

Hey guys, this park is opened by two of the most awesome guys you can imagine. I only know 1/2 of the duo, but can say that Enrique is the most genuine, hard-working dude you can find. Period. We've ridden together many times and I'm so incredibly proud of him for putting a lot on the line to pursue his dream and open this venue in the GTA. This is really a 'roll-up your sleeves and make your dream come true' type of story. For perspective, he built this course in 4 weeks alone with just a little Bobcat working 14h per day.

Here's a video of the full lap around the park (in crappy conditions might I add, a better video is coming soon).

Enduro section has been roughed-in and is coming shortly (we're helping the guys get logs, etc...). From the plans I've seen, the Enduro section will be pretty exciting (one of the coming features is supposed to be a triple-stacked tractor tire pyramid..).

Yes, the MX track is a smaller track, but for being virtually on city limits, it's an AWESOME development. I know Enrique and he is working tirelessly to make the venue better every day (improving signage, water drainage, jump shapes and adding new features). The few times I've been there so far, I noticed a few amateur racers (I recognized their names from the Triple Crown events at Gopher Dunes) putting in laps. Sure it's not a track to hold the nationals on, but having a place to practice at in your back-yard vs only being able to drive out somewhere on the weekends is pretty great.

I was up there on friday on the DR and it looked like a lot of fun. I wouldn't mind going on a weekend but would like some more novice company.. anyone interested?
I'd love to see an obstacles section where I could bring the trials bike for a spin. I think the neighbors are sick of my back yard sessions.

It looks like someone got what they wanted and shut the place down. Their FB page says the business is done! Too bad, I guess too many complaints from locals, the fair grounds, and even "pro" riders who did not like the fact the tack was not built for them. (I heard this from track owners directly). FB page says someone did a wheelie in the pits and dad jump on the back of the kids bike with no helmet. This gave enough ammunition to the fairgrounds to shut the business down. What we don't know, was the track bringing in enough revenue to keep the business going? Too bad it was only 20 minutes away.
