New model release dates - 2012 Kawi 650 Ninja

The forks still appear to be damper rod, in design, so the front end won't likely be a significant improvement. They could only do better than the stock shock, that came on my ER (same shock as the Ninja 650R). There doesn't appear to be any additional adjustability.

Kawasaki Canada puts the curb weight difference down at about 12 pounds/5Kg. Any additional weight could be because of the larger fuel capacity, in a total wet weight.

They're also releasing a new ER-6n, based on the new Ninja 650R. Nice to see, given that they didn't even bother to bring it in last year.

Are you sure about the weight comparison? The 2012 holds only 0.5 litres of extra fuel. That can't be more the a few pounds....

Its a digital speedo, so I'm sure it can easily be switched to km. Also In the US they got Passion Red which is HOT!!! I didn't like it as much until I saw it in red and its so sexy, the front looks like a ZX6r profile view

I agree with going Red.

I think this model (2012) is going to be in high demand. Kawasaki realizes that alot of riders that purchased the new version of the 250R since 2008 are most likely ready to upgrade. This model seems to appeal to what alot of us 250R users were asking for if we upgraded.

I just went over to kawasaki.ca and took a look at the declared curb weights. Even over estimated a bit. You've got to pull the weights from the same source, or they can't really be compared.

2012 - 209 kg (460.8 lbs.)
2011 - 204 kg (449.7 lbs.)

I'm willing to lose an extra 10 pounds of fat to compensate.

I was offered $2,500 for a 2009 250R (mint condition) 15,000 km. Which when you factor in the tax savings on a trade in its like they offered me approx. $2,800. I think that realistically I can get at least $3,500 private for the bike (alot of people seem to asking around $4,500, whether or not they actually get that I have no idea). So the question you can only answer is it worth the extra time and effort to sell the the bike privately for approx. $700.00 difference or is it worth the convience to just trade it in.

Im my case I would rather keep both bikes and when I'm ready I will sell the 250R privately. I hate the thought of trading something in and then watching the dealer resell the bike for 30-40 % more of what they offered me.
